My father was outside cleaning the driveway with the blade attachment for his powertrack and he hit a raised peice of uneven concrete and now the tractor will only run in full choke any suggestions as into whats wrong?

He shook something loose in the gas tank and it has clogged the intake inside the gas tank or filter.

See if the fuel line is pinched or kinked. Perhaps the jolt made it change position. If it is old fuel line, the weight of a filter can make it pinch.
Check the fuel filter.
As mentioned, check where the fuel leaves the tank and see if debris is blocking the exit.

Also just knocking it that much could have knocked something loose in the carburetor itself, blocking the main jet. You might try draining the carburetor, and backing out the main jet and then squirting some carburetor cleaner in there.

All the best,

Peter

First, I would pull the fuel line off the carb, pull the plug wires off and crank the engine and see if the flow is good. If so, I would then take the fuel shutoff solenoid off and clean it. Check the bowl for water/debris.

Hey, maybe the choke lever/linkage got knocked lose? Wow. I can't believe it took me two days to think to look at that, maybe? :)

He said it would only run with full choke, implying that he is using the choke. When my Kohler started acting up, I could only keep it running using full choke, so I figured it was not getting enough fuel, and removed and cleaned the solenoid fuel shut off and put it all back together and it ran fine. I recently found out that a lot of Kohler repairmen remove the solenoid and just use the standard bowl screw/nut.

What I mean is maybe the choke linkage is discombobulated, not disconnected. I've had weird things happen with linkages that make them act as if they are working backwards, etc... it is worth a quick visual inspection. I've also had goofy things happen to governors, like a blade of grass getting stuck in it, which made it go full off. Don't know if his engine has a governor, but that is worth looking at, too.
