Hiya,

My local dealer just quoted me $400 to $500 for loading the rears on my 2520.

Seems a bit high for 44 gallons of juice. (rim guard and ballast star both say 22 gal. per tire)

What is the current rate per gallon, installed?

Thanks in advance,

Tom

Search the web on how to do it your self using Windshield Washer Fluid, the blue stuff. Its cheap, wont freeze, will not rot your rims, and will not kill your lawn if you have a leak.

I have been working with Les Schwab on getting my tires replaced or re-capped. They quoted $1 a pound for foam. Which means you won't get a flat. That is a little over $100 each for 9.50x16 tires. Calcium chloride was quoted at $2.75 a gallon. That might give you an idea of cost. At least here in the Seattle area.

Around here (NH) dealers are getting $250-$300 for filling the tires on tractors the size of yours. Your prices seem high. ( Using Rimguard)

I had pretty high quotes from dealers as well - that was for CaCl2 - about $500. I called around and found a farm tire guy who did it at my place for $250 including tubes.

Call a couple of used tractors places to find out who does the tires for them and then call him. Most places don't seem to do it themselves and contract out to a tire guy. Might as well not have to pay the middle man (dealer).

My local dealer charged $350 for my 2320 a couple of weeks ago. It added about 400 lbs I'm told (200 per wheel). They used a non-calcium product - RimGuard or Citrastar I think - they were just switching betwen the two.

I bought my tc21d in December, my local shop charged $125 for both rears filled with washer fluid.

$200 for the loading the two rear tires on a BX2350 with Rimguard in Dryden, Michigan.

We get $3.00 per gallon and a $50.00 set up fee.

A local NH dealer quoted me $700 to pick up tractor at dock, transport 10 miles, fill rears with RimGuard (about 90 gallons total) and return to ferry dock. I declined although I do prefer RimGuard and had it on my first tractor.

I will be going the windshield washer route and will do it myself. total cost of materials will be about $150-175 for all 4 tires.

Island - why all four? Haven't heard of many people doing all four.

That price is about right to do rimguard. It's spendy stuff.

Around here CaCl2 is about 0.85 a gal if you bring the tractor to them and 1.25 a gal if they send a truck out to you. Tube extra.

I did the WWF myself last fall on a tractor. It's a PIA to do. Next time, will probably just have a truck come out with CaCl2. Of course, that tractor I didn't want the extra weight of CaCl2, so was stuck with WWF and no one does that around here.

I did RimGuard on my TN75D. Was about $400 in 2001, 16.9x30's. I don't think abody but amateurs does WWF.

Hiya,

I called around and found a tire shack that will do citrus byproduct for 2.75/gal if I roll the wheels into his shop.

Talked to the dealer again too just to confirm his pricing, yep, 4 to 500. Needless to say, I said no thanks.

How many gallons does your tire take? My 16.9x30's I bekieve take a little over 70 gallons each. 140 times 2.75 equals $385 plus $100 or so to fill and I think 4 to 5 hundred is right in line.

About $9.00 for the fitting from Tractor supply to fill tires with water and about 2 to 3 gals antifreeze per tire would only cost you about $60 or $70 (total) and a little bit of time.....

Wow.....Sure glad I'm willing and able to do my own. 50lb bag of cal/chlor "chips" $20ea, Pump was $40, 2 sections of garden hose, $25, Adapter $12, Couple free 55 gal plastic barrels. $500 would fill every tire I own (7 tractors) and buy me a good lunch to boot.
