Power Trac PT425 2001 Model Year
On Friday I placed my order for a Power Trac PT425. Here's what I ordered:

PT425
Small bucket W/teeth
Large light material bucket
60" finish mower
48" brush hog
60" snow blade
30" pallet forks
Custom attachment plate for future projects
Loading ramps to get it in my truck
Extra set of blades for finish mower
And I ordered the arm rests as well.

Grand total: $12,591.64 including shipping.

Everything is in stock so it should ship out early next week and arrive towards the end of the week. I'll take pictures and post them when it arrives.

After reading what you purchase and visiting the website, looks like there nothing you can't do...40 different attachment/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif...
Just wondering it will handle pushing heavy snow.
Do indeed send pictures of PT425 working projects.
Take care.

If I can't push it, I'll swap to the bucket in 30 seconds and scoop it up! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I guess everyone idea of heavy snow is going to be different depending where they live. Last year I think we got heavy snow, sometimes over a foot of heavy wet snow. The tractor plowed very well except when the snow was heavy I had to turn into the angle of the plow to keep the front from pushing. I put chains on it this year and have had no problems. I have a 1600 foot driveway that is gravel except the first 200 feet by my house. When I first plowed this year the driveway was wet and not frozen. Wear your seatbelt. I am tall and hit a large rock that sent my forhead into the roll bar, quit a lump./w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Welcome to the Power Trac family /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. I hope you are as happy with your tractor as I have been. A few modifications I made have worked very well. The tractor comes with a wimpy plastic gas filter. I went to NAPA and got a metal filter and gas shutoff. I also got 2 lights that match the lights (at NAPA) on the tractor and put them under the rain canopy. I installed a wear bar to my plow, just used bar steel and bolts. I don't know if you have seen my previous post's but if you get stuck remember to waggle, turn your wheel completly in each direction while applying a little forward with high throttle. This even works when you bottom out.

Good Luck, PTRich

Oh yes, I have read your posts for a long time. In fact, I have read just about everything that I can find on this subject on TBN and JPLAN. I have some experience plowing snow with a truck, and know that you just have to take wet snow a little differently than the dry stuff. I usually make the first pass way outside in the grass, then go back and push the middle into the area where I just plowed. Then one more pass usually does it. I think the trouble starts when people try to take too much too fast. Were you one of those that were looking for the hydraulic filter part number? If so, did you ever find one?

I'll let you know as soon as I feel competent on it so I don't look like a boob and run it into the garage or something!/w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

Isn't it amazing how even a small rock, frozen into the ground, can stop a moving tractor?

I have not been aggressively looking lately, been to busy but I hope to find one. It would make it convenient. I now keep 3 filters in my garage all the time.

Well, I ordered it on Friday afternoon and it was in South Bend, Indiana at 8:00 am Tuesday! How's that for service?

It was shipped with the 60" mower attached, the 48" brush hog on one skid and all of the other stuff on another skid. A friend of mine and I both took our full size pickups to the trucking company to pick it up. Arrived at 5:15pm. We unpacked the skids and used the quick attach on the PT425 to load the brush hog, pallet forks and 60" mower on his truck. We put the 60" snow plow in the front of the bed on my truck, attached the big bucket to the PT425 with the little bucket w/teeth nested in the big bucket. Then we set up the ramps and I backed it up into my truck. Put the ramps in my truck, tied everything down and drove home. Reversed the process at home and everything was unloaded and the garage doors were shut by 6:30pm. Not bad.

This was my first time driving an articulated vehicle in tight quarters. It is very interesting. Going forward feels natural, you just steer the wheel and follow the implement. Going backwards is another story. You kind of have to steer the back wheels and the rest of the unit follows. I was surprised how easy, yet un-natural it feels to drive this backwards.

Lining up an implement to pick it up with the quick attach is very easy. If you are off a little, all you do is turn the wheel and the front moves left or right without moving forward. Incredibly easy.

I have not had the chance to use any of the attachments yet, with the exception of the pallet forks. There is a dirt pile in the back yard that is taunting me. I think I'll introduce it to the bucket with teeth this weekend. There is also a grassy parking place next to our driveway that I want to dig out and install some crushed limestone before the ground freezes.

As posted by many of the other PT owners, it is loud. But I knew about this before and always wear hearing protection. I find it about the same as a bobcat. The seat is cushy and the arm rests are just at the right height for me. The lights are very bright, but are mounted too close to the lift arms, so that they cast a shadow on the quick attach, making it about impossible to see it at night. I will investigate moving one of the lights up under the canopy so that it can point down on the quick attach, or maybe just add a third light that is switched seperately.

Also, as posted by other PT owners and now posted by me;
This thing is built like a brick outhouse! Everything on it, from the canopy to the cage around the engine, is made of HEAVY steel. Thank goodness the canopy has a cushy trim strip around the edge, because if you walk into it, you're going down! My next step is to make a maintenance plan, send in the warranty info, and get used to it gradually. It was too dark to take pictures tonight, so I will take them ASAP and get them developed, then scan them in(I got my wife a digital camera for Christmas, so she can take some pictures for me after that; instant picture posts! Don't tell her).

Thanks to all posters on this board for helping me make an informed decision. It took a year, but was worth it. Hopefully, I'll be able to contribute in the same manner in the future.
