When sizing a valve to be used on the power beyond (add on, not factory).

Should the valve be sized to the total tractor or implement flow?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Sean

implement flow.

Just to be clear, the valve needs to be rated for the entire flow that the implement pump puts out. If your tractor has a 5 GPM for the power steering pump and a 10 GPM pump for all implement use, then the valve needs to be able to flow 10 GPM. If you use a motor spool that takes 8 GPM, you still need a valve that takes the 10 GPM that the implement pump puts out.

You NEVER want to restrict the main flow for any extended length of time. ;)

Thanks for the quick feedback guys!
If I understand correctly (2720 for instance) the implement side is 5GPM, total GPM of tractor is 10.
Valve would be sized to 5GPM in this case correct?

Thanks again!

Correct. Or even a little larger is perfectly OK-just never smaller.
