The issue with all the less expensive (as in cheap imported compressors)m is they are constructed of primarily plastic components and because when compressing air, the components get hot (just like a large stationary compressor does) and the plastic cheap components will fail. Plastic and heat of operation don't marry well plus the CFM output of them is very low, consequently it takes a long protracted time to air up anything substantial and a long duty cycle on a plastic compressor spells death for it.
