I need to purchase a tractor I have 27 acres which I need to clear since they have old sugar cane on them the land is faily flat slope slightly downward. I intend to use the tractor for clearing and also to build a house which will need a foundation, cesspol and logically farming I have been looking into chinese tractors Jinma, Foton and Kama. I would like sugestions as to which is better more reliable easy to repair and can hold the most attachments. I would like to know about horse power and cylinders.
Also I am considering going to China to buy direct from factory and import myself so any information regarding all these phases from purchase kind to import would be greatly appriciated.
Thank you

I just purchased a jinma 354. its a sturdy machine and jinma has been in America over 20 years. As far as getting one yourself, this could be hard and time consumming. (see the last page of jinma how realiable)Good luck.

Wow, how much money do you plan to save by going to China?

Just getting a chineese tractor by itself will save you a load of cash... Personally.. I would let soemone else import it.. like the dealer who knows what he is doing.

For that size land.. go for the 30hp jinma ( 3 cylinder ). I don't have info on the other brands you mentioned.

The 354 as mentioned, is a cat 1 tractor... meaning just about any cat 1 implement will fit it.

Probably run a 6' bush hog.. etc.. and most 6' implements.. like a box blade.. rake, etc. 6' dual ganged disc..

Thanks for the information Soundguy,I dont know much about tractors as you possibly notice so when you mention the cat 1 I am assuming its a catterpillar ? also could you give me an
Idea of what possibly every attachment purpose is and if the chinese attachments are worth buying for the Jinma 354 tractor that you mention.
I thank you for your sound advice

hi Dreamon:

I would not try to import it by you're self for one. I was going to bring in a full load and went in with a dealer and got same pricing. There is a LOT of hidden costs that are not redliy seen for importing, (not to mention customs is getting very hard on people importing things for thir own use type thing .

I have a JM284 with the China FEL and China Hoe, as well as China TIller and China Finish mower. first off I ahve had luck with the Hoe and Fel & tiller but stay away foorm the mowers. the chippers are great but only hearing that never had one (not yet anyhow /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif )

I would say a 284 can runa 6' rotary mower as long as it is flat terrain and not a lot of large saplings, a 354 will pull a 6" not really knowing it is there.

The HOES do not dig to a great depth very fast (the first 3~4' is OK but more than that is gets slow) so if you have a electric service to put in and maybe the leach field it is cheaper to rent a trencher or hire it done. if you plan on useing it for more than just a few things then by all means get one. Alsao don't think you acn dig a basement for a house using one of these hoes, that is out of there league. footers below frost depth ya.

a CAT0 Cat1 CAT 2 is a 3 point lift catagory rating, for size of impliments that it will hold. a cat 0 is more or less for garden lawn type tractors, "cat 1" is the standard CUT (Compact Utility Tractor) rating and like was said above covers most all the impliments you would ever need, unless you plan on plowing the 27 acres then you would want to step up to a cat2 tractor and that will cost more for sure. You could pull a 3 X 14/16 plow with a 354 if the FEL was on for added traction unless you have really hard ground. also a 354 will pull a 5~6' roto tiller. my 284 does not even know the 4' tiller I have is back there! lol.
Anyhow a 6'~7' box blade with good rippers will tear up some dirt for building / Sod clearing and gravel drive maintaining. behid the 354.

anyhow if you have any questions please ask away.

Jinma 284 TLB Tiller 5' finish mower, 6' box blade.
(soon a 5' rotary cutter and PHD with a 6' rock rake.) 1,100.00 for all three with 12" auger! and spare rotary blade set.)

Hey dream on did I mention that I went through the House building step 3 years ago. Now all I can tell ya is this, if you are in a rocky area or have alot of stumps call a pro. My excavator took out a "rock" that made his track hoe rock front and back! As far as utilities The electric co. and phone wanted a 3' wide 4' deep ditch. Then they wanted it to be back filled with clean sand only. My 354 Jinma is great but it couldn't do all that . But they are powerfull machines and can mow rake or till 27 acres. And I plan to use mine to clean up my lot and finish off my driveway.

Hey Alpha
I am looking at getting a 40 hp Jinma with FEL and HOE /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
I plan on working it to clear about 1/2 acre of lightly wooded lot and dig a curtian drain about 4-5 feet about 1-2 feet wide all the way around and backfill it with stone /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
after reading you r response it might not handle it
what do ya think? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
