1*You mean you can't transfer the plates to another car?
answer: You can transfer to another car if you have one, but I was talking about keeping plates without having proper insurance, another subject.
2*Ohio does allow stored vehicles to be exempt from insurance requirements
Answer: That is what I said, so you are in agreement with me on this.
3*No body in their right mind would admit to having one of them on their vehicle.
Answer: Why not? It is the honest thing to do
Maybe so but i don't think most people relish the Idea of going around announcing I'v been convicted of drunk driving and I can prove it cause I have one of them yellow DUI plates on my car to prove it.

Oh.... so that is what the yellow plate means.... My friend didn't tell me, but suggested that I ask you if you have a yellow plate. Guess that he was just toying with us. What does the red plate mean that Andy made reference to?

I never go there.

How are you able to transfer your plates from one truck to another in three month intervals?

Only if it will fit into the bed and be secured properly. Just because it fits, doesn't make it legal. All loads must be properly secured to be considered legal. Also, you have to consider that the weight of the passengers is also calculated into that payload. Why don't you put the tractor into the bed of the truck and properly secure it with either straps or chains. Then go to the truck scales, and with yourself in the cab, have it weighed by a Ohio certified weigh-master. Then post the weigh certificate and a picture of the data plate, and tell us if your truck, with you and the BX have exceeded the GVW of the data plate of the truck. How long will it take to do this task?
Dusty.
Ok so then if all this meets the specs can I also then use the truck to pull a trailer with the BX on it.???? ?????????????????

In Ohio, you could have a 50% reduction on the registration fee only, if it will be less than 6 months until it expires. Local and County taxes not included in the reduction. They go by your birthdate unless it's a leased vehicle. There are no other reductions, not 2 months, not 3 months, you'll pay for 6 months. I checked into this today. I will wait until next week some time, after my temp tag runs out, to license one. That way I get to pay for 5 months 27 days, but pay a 6 month fee instead of a 12 month fee now. Thats a $17.25 savings, nothing more. The State fee to license is $34.50+ any local taxes.
You can't have 4 vehicles and claim 4 birthdates, they look at your drivers license.
You also cannot transfer tags until you you tell them the name of the buyer of the vehicle that the tags USED to be registered to that you no longer own.

BTW, the above mentioned vehicle will be parked as of Sat when the temp runs out.

The above price is for a passenger vehicle, not a light truck, less than 3/4 ton sorry.

1*LB, did you just reply to yourself?

If the state of Ohio issues someone one of the yellow and red license plates, I really don't think you would have a choice whether you accept them or not. If one ends of with the plates,
2* you can't simply say, "no thank you."
1* Nope - just added a PS.
2*Right but you don't have to admit you have one if sombody ask.

I don't know of anyone who goes around asking others if they have the special yellow license plates.

Me for one.
Somebody else inquired if anyone here had that plate.

BTW do you have would you admit it if you did
what is all this talk of yellow license plates? Does yellow tell the cops you are a drunk driver? What is the deal being made out of this discussion?

Why shouldn't I admit what color my license plates are?
Both of my cars have the standard Ohio red, white, and blue colors.
oh_license_plate.jpg

Why, what color are yours on each of your four trucks? ;)

just read the 10 pages on this thread, was interesting reading but i just had to ask the reason you purchased 400 miles away. was this a used machine that you found a deal on or new machine at lower price than local dealer would take?

Whether you admit to yellow plates or not, would you kindly explain what this yellow plate deal is? Is this something so bad, that one runs from yellow plates, or is it jsut a new color Ohio is coming out with..
Inquiring minds would like to know.
