Congratulations on your purchase, I'm sure you'll be very happy with it. Why and what tools did you need to detach the mower?

Thats a nice tractor, have fun with it. Be careful and you will learn the ropes quickly.

i was wrong after looking at it better i found the little button to push in to release the drive shaft from the tractor.I spent a whole afternoon riding around with half of the drive shaft attached to the tractor, nothing like being green!!!!

Congratulations on your new machine! And welcome to TBN. A few pictures would definitely be appreciated! :D

(Hopefully, the driveshaft is still right where you left it..)

Paint the driveshaft white...then you will have a whitetail deere!

Hey, I own a 2007 JD 3720. Watch out for the R4 tires, my land is mostly gravel and sand, I'm not rough on the machine, I was out with my 6 ft brush hog cutting grass and I notice the citric liquid leaking from a hole in the rear left tire two weeks after I bought it, then the other tire went, I finally spent $1350 to have the tires foam filled. Then the front tire popped, so I had them foam filed too.
the tires in my opinion are junk. But i do like the tractor and now that I have them all filed with foam, no problems.

I think you just got some bad tires. I have 300+ hours on my 3520 with R4's and have not had any problems with them. Could there be somethng buried on your property that you might be running over?

The JD 3X20's are great machines. Mine takes care of 10 acres and makes it fun to do. :D :D

If you are poking holes in the tires you are running over something, I don't think it is faulty tires. If you cut off saplings and roots at the ground these will definately poke holes in tires.

The galaxy tires are weak. They have no puncture resistance in them at all. You are buying a premium machine and you get budget tires. Mine leaked around the beads and such, so I put Michelins on mine and they are amazing. Big heavy radial tires that have super load capacity and steel belts to prevent things from poking through them. Bring on the thorns.

Foam filling them has to make that thing strain somewhat to get moving and to stop. All that reciprocating mass is hard to stop and start. Also, doesn't it ride hard?

Got pics of your rig with the Michelins?

One of the rear tires started leaking 1 day after being delivered....brought the rim/tire in and it turns out the weld on the rim in the bead seat area wasnt ground down smoothly...Deere put a new rim on it and its been fine since.
I've loved my Galaxy's from the day I got em...did alot of brush & gravel work this past fall and they still look like new...

Here are some pics for the Michelins I put on. Really like them so far. All I have really done is seed with them, but they leave such a nice flat footprint on the ground. And with two steel belts in them, they should be very good when I mow brush in the summer.

Thanks for the pics...
Those are really nice tires, looks like a cross between the profile of an R4 and the tread from an R1....
Did they have matching fronts avilable? Looks like you got the factory fronts still on it?

/ picked up 3720 #17
You are correct, Michelin doesn't make a front that I needed.
I went one size bigger on the rears, so I had to go up a size on the fronts.
I put 28x8.50x15 on the front. That kept my ratio correct.
They do make a front and rear tire in the original sizes.
The rear is a 400/70R20 XMCL, and the front is a 27x8.50x15 XZSL. That setup would be almost flat proof.

I would love to have those tires on my tractor..... but does anybody know for sure if those tires will fit on my 3720 Cab unit... it seems as though they may... but the left fender on the cab unit also houses part of the diesel tank and there is less clearance on that side.... I wonder how much those tires would set me back if they did fit.. obviously I would have to change my front tires also to keep the gear ratio in sync...

Do you get better road speed with those bigger tires? if so how fast can your machine travel with those tires... I have the larger "filled" R4 tires on my machine, and I can only top out at an average speed of 15.5 mph... sometimes 16 mph if the grade is perfect..

The Manual says I should be able to get over 18.2 mph with my tires right now... I can't even do that going downhill...

which brings me to ask... is it possible that my dashboard computer was never set up right for my Larger R4 tires? What is everybody else getting for Road Speeds on their machines?

I thought the same thing...JD3520Turbo he went up a size...wonder if it was up from the already "Larger" R4's...if I were to swap over, I'd swap over to the same size I already got with the Larger R4's. But thats assuming I can get the matching fronts as I'm a little picky with that stuff..

Was your tractor delivered with the larger R4's or did the dealer swap em out for you there at the shop? I'd say your theory of the computer not being correctly programmed is entirely possible/very likely if the dealer swapped them out.

I would say his Michelin's are larger than the regular larger R4's, because after looking at pictures of other Open Station machines with the regular larger R4's, there is still quite a bit of clearance between the R4's and the fenders. On his Michelin tires, it looks like he used every last bit of clearance he could to get those tires on... I love the looks of them though... I would love to have those on my tractor, if they do indeed fit the cab model...

as far as my tractor goes... I'm not sure if mine was originally delivered with the larger R4's or not, Dave? I know I wanted the larger R4's and told them I what I wanted to be configured on the tractor, and it was delivered with them.... so I'm not sure if they came from the factory that way or not....

what is your tractor getting for Travel Speeds?
