I have a 1510 - and I need a decent capacity pick up hitch - not the three point mounted version - anyone seen / made one?

OK, I admit, I don't know what you are talking about. Any pictures of anything like your asking about or a little more info for someone slow like me?

Its the parrots beak affair under the pto shaft - this lifts up and down (shown in 'up') using the 3ph arms

for towing trailers with ring type hitch - a bit like the NATO standard. How do the colonials tow trailers (non domestic - ie not 50mm/2" ball)?

I've been reading this site since 2003 and your photo is the first time I ever saw or heard of one.

Where is this common?

Thanks for posting the picture. I looked at that sight which is in Ireland. If I wanted something like that I would probably buy the pintle part and then "rig" up some way to mount and swivel it attached to the tractor hitch. That is not any good info to help you but I'm doubting you are going to find a factory job for a 1510 Yanmar. More curiosity, do you move trailers around?

I don't believe we have anything like that here in the colonies;).

wow... dont you? virtually every big tractor here has them - its essential for picking up a ring hitch trailer -

just back tactor up to hitch, lower hook thing, back under ring, raise hook, drive off. Maybe its a design feature created by having a wet country ;) that meant we dont like getting out of the cab.

heres a vid of it working

so how to the damned collonials pick up a trailer then?

occasionally - I have lifted a two + tonne trailer filled with horse manure with my little 1510 - bu twrappign a chain around the top end of the lift arms, and down to the ring - but it was a bit scary, as the trailer was 'penduluming' (is that a word?) on the chain, slamming into the back of the tractor (well, the bit of lift framework on the 3ph). Not fun - but it was only for 1/2 a mile, off road.

Guyd, never to old to learn something new. No doubt that would be a fine thing to have moving those trailers. Thanks for the vidio. What parts are you from?
