Pallet Forks

Where do you find those metal pallets?! All our firewood goes in wood, sided pallet and they’re starting to deteriorate. The metal ones are awesome.
They are the cages for IBC totes, designed to carry liquids. They are expensive new, but frequently show up used in some areas. I’d hit Craig’s list, eBay, etc. if your somewhere close to a commercial receiver they can be really inexpensive. They are on eBay all the time, but most selllers are local only and won’t ship. But if they were close enough, they would be a good deal.

China. Bought them directly: a bit of a harrowing experience (suffice it to say that I know understand all the process for such transactions). Crates collapse, which was essential for transport: shipping and then picking up from the shipping port (using my truck and trailer). I got 50 of them: I think that that was the minimum order size. Total costs back then was something like $105 ea (factory cost + shipping cost + importer costs + my fuel costs). I seem to recall that U-Line had them but they were insanely expensive: well over 2x and that didn't include shipping. Mine stack and have a hinged side (drops down for easier access- key for my diminutive wife [bending over and reaching inside an IBC tote frame one was out of the picture]).

Just got C.I.D. pallet forks for my 25 horse Bobcat. Lightest ones that still had a headache rack. Already proving invaluable

Don't "over-fork" your machine, save some of that lift capacity for loads.

Quicktach, Bobtach, etc makes having set of these a no-brainer. I got 42s too.

I bought "Titan Attachments 48-in Skid Steer Pallet Fork Frame Attachment, 48" Fork Blades, Rate 4,000 LB, Quick Tach Tractor" on Amazon a couple years ago and am very happy with them.

I also bought a nice clean plastic pallet that just fits into my station wagon. It's perfectly handy to buy for example enough bags of concrete mix to max out my car's weight capacity, have the store load them on the pallet already in the car, and then at home I can tractor the whole pile to wherever it's needed.

What store will do that for you?
Only a few grocery stores will do that around here.
All my building centers will help me to the cash register and I'm on my own after that...unless I buy half a pallet or more. But never for ~ 6 bags of concrete.

It was 11 bags, 60 lbs each, so total 660 lbs, which maxes out my Forester's weight limit with me included. In November, the closest Lowes did that for me. I asked for help, and they put them all on a cart for me, and then transferred them all into my car onto the pallet. That many bags, they had to put some in the back door and some in each of the rear side doors (I had the back seat down).

I used the pallet forks to move the whole pile to where I was working. I poured a big rectangular step off the side of the driveway where it slopes away, so that I could park my wheeled trash and recycling containers there. By parking my concrete mixer between the driveway and the pour, and parking the tractor and elevated pallet over the mixer, I was able to do the whole job without lifting a single bag, just sliding them to the edge of the pallet where I could dump them.

THAT'S the way to mix concrete.
My small jobs were never that easy. It actually sounds like you had fun.

I will echo the call for dedicated forks. Mine are Titan's and I use them as much as the bucket or any other implement. You will not regret getting them.
