Painting my 4720 (have paint code)

Well, the powdercoating on my 2005 4720 is flat toast and looks awful. So after failing to come up with any official paint code, I took the pan from under my seat (had it removed to replace my rockshaft piston seal) and took it in to match up. The color they came up with is "Traffic Red 912 002", or RAL 3020 (RAL Color Chart | www.RALcolor.com).

This color would be closest and looks spot on, Ill update hopefully by the end of the weekend with the results. Could have had a custom formula made according to the machine, but it was $330/gallon, where as closest match was $230/gallon.

Started this evening with painting the plastics all gloss black, they were horribly faded. Used plastic adhesion promotor and some Majic paint for that. Will start prepping fenders and hood tomorrow. The loader and backhoe are gonna be a pain, not sure how I am going to hoist it quite yet. Not looking forward to it.

Ill let you guys know how it comes out! (still need to find a matching grey for a little touch up on the rear axle, rest of the tractor looks great still.)

Ive got a lot of the tractor done. Prepping the rams and bucket for black paint for tomorrow. Then Ill start tearing apart the backhoe.... SO MUCH GREASE!

looks good. The engine and chassis seem similar to cummins "bluke" aka "blue black"

I found the Rustoleum "Cherry" red in the rattle can is the perfect match for my Branson red at WW. I have the part number out in the shop but it's not hard to spot and the WW Supercenters carry a goodly variety of paints for your choosing. They didn't have a grey to match and TSC may have it. At 4 bucks a can it sure beats the OEM price for what I do with it and I store my stuff indoors so I don't worry about sun baking resistance if that were to be an issue.

Great project with awesome outcome.

I have started rust removal, priming then apply the old Ford Blue (65-99) from TSC by brush in restoring the Ford one arm loader of the 50's-60's. The metal in them are kind of rough to start with plus the factory paint job was of lower quality. It is on sale for $25 a gallon which will do a lot of equipment.

Used a lot of foamy degreaser in conjunction with my pressure washer using hot water. Then rags and brake cleaner. Then after it got sanded down and wiped off right before paint, I had some final cleaner/degreaser the paint shop gave me to do the final wipe with. Then 3-4 coats of paint. Should hold up I am guessing.

Rustoleum "Cherry" rattle can paint from WW is an exact match for me. I added some wheel weights and it was a perfect match. Otherwise the dealer can get Branson OEM rattle can paint. I have what's left of a can of that and Charcoal which I haven't been able to find a match to suit me in Rustoleum or Krylon. The OEM paint ran me $16 a can...yes pricy.

so here is what branson was able to send me on the paint codes i hope this helps you out guys. Bear in mind this only has the red paint nothing else ignore the blue paint code that is for their agricultural equipment sold in the east.

Thanks!... Unfortunately that appears to be the yellow wheel paint for the JD line they make in Europe. I may have to eyeball it.

No I was actually looking for the WHITE that Branson uses on the tire rims. It's kind of an off white. Almost a cream color I think.
