Not sure where to post this and it may get removed anyway but I have a suspicion that's been bugging me.

I suspect that at least some of the posters on TBN are financially compensated to post by manufacturer. We know this happens with online reviews. I am not suggesting that the TBN owners/admin are complicit.

I won't post any names but there are a couple in particular. Both regularly creates new threads to highlight the advantages of the product. It goes beyond the natrual pride of ownership. One pushes the subcompact line of a smaller manufacturer and another promotes a peripheral piece of equipment used to work and fabricate equipment.
It bothers me because I think it runs contrary to the intended user driven community knowledge we come here for.
Do you think I am crazy? Im not usually a conspiracy theory type. Just sometimes I read a post and something smells fishy.

Could be true but sometimes people do go overboard promoting "their brand" of BBQ but are not financially compensated.

Well, I don't get paid to post but when I am posting, I'm usually enjoying an ice cold Coka Cola.

If anyone suspects that someone is advertising, there is a handy dandy "Report Post" button at the bottom left corner of every post (looks like this:

).
One can click on it and then enter a message for the moderators to let them know that you feel that the post in question is advertising.
