3520 CAB
I've been away from the forum for quite a while but wanted to check in. I have a 2007 790 that replaced a horrible grey market Yanmar. The 790 has been a great tractor but I now have a very bad left ankle so I've had to really limit my work with the 790. In any case on June 13th, I ordered:

  • 3520 Deluxe Cab
  • Rear wipers
  • Rear lights
  • R1 tires, filled and wide
  • Factory Radio
  • Engine Coolant Heater
  • Tool Box Kit
  • Mid-PTO
  • Automotive Style Cruise
  • 300CX Loader, hood guard, level indicator
  • A11E 72" 4-in-1 Bucket
  • 3rd SCV with hydraulic lines to the front
  • Diverter for 4th and 5th SVC
  • Top and Tilt Kit
  • BB5072 Box Blade
  • I kept my AF11E front blade with hydraulic angle

I worked with 3 local dealers but 2 wouldn't come off of list. One did, but Mutton ended up beating him by quite a bit and Shane was a lot more knowledgeable about the tractor/options/attachments so I ordered from him. I think/hope that is going to work out. Should get the tractor in another 3-4 weeks.

Do I need a tractor. Absolutely not. But I'm getting old, life is short, I want more seat time (and the clutch isn't working out anymore) and my wife is very understanding. This will be what I do for "work" when I retire in 3 years.

Will add some pictures after I get it.

I do have a few questions:

1) Has anyone that is "larger", over 250lbs, had any experience with the standard seat?
2) Has anyone had experience with getting warrantee and maintenance work done with a local dealer when they bought out of state?
3) Anyone with recent experience with how long JD factory tractor orders are taking to arrive?
4) Is the transmission housing steel or aluminum? I want to know if my magnetic heater will work to heat the transmission oil.

Thanks,

I'm 230lbs, and I have the air ride seat. My tractor is an open station, so I think it is the standard seat with the air kit. I really like it, I think you should get the air...lots of travel, and very adjustable.

The transmission housing is all aluminum on the 3x20's. You have to go to the 4x20's to get all steel back there

Congrats - you will have a nice collection of yard toys there when it all arrives. At 253# do not have complaints regarding the standard suspension seat, however, never tried an air seat for direct comparison. There is quite a bit of adjustment. More than the seat bottoming out, with the short wheelbase on these machines if one crosses lumps / bumps, especially at an angle, I find getting tossed side to side to be much more annoying.

Consider a set of Forks - I'm surprised how many uses I find for them.

Amen to that

Thanks,

Im 6'4" tall and my weight fluctuates between 230 and 240 pounds. I have the non air ride spring suspension seat in my cab. I keep the seat adjusted mid way and I have about 12 inches of headroom. It floats me around 10 acres of pasture nicely while mowing. This seat is no where near maxed out with the spring adjuster.Air seat would be much nicer but not something I was gonna pay extra for because the spring felt just fine. I ordered my machine in the fall and it took 2 months to arrive from the factory. IT all depends when you order when it comes to delivery

Well I guess I'll just have to see how the standard seat works. I hate to spend another $700 on the air seat.

Will likely need to buy the transmission heater before the winter since my magnetic heaters won't work.

Shane is saying everything should be in on the 18th (5 weeks) so I guess that isn't too bad and delivered one or two weeks later.

Thanks,

I am 277 pounds. When I had the 3520 it had the regular seat and it worked fine. My 3720 has the air ride seat and works great. If you ordered the Deluxe cab from John Deere then it includes the air ride seat, along with the rear wipers and works lights, and the factory installed 3rd SCV and mid-pto.

I think I'm getting the deluxe cab w the standard seat. At least that is what my PO says.
