JD 3120
After a few months of research with a lot of help on here I placed an order yesterday for a 3120 that will be here in a few weeks. For attachments I went with a 72" 7-iron MMM, 300CX loader and 366 frame mounted front blade for snow removal. Was going to go for a boom mounted Frontier blade but changed my mind on the last day. Was concerned about putting all that stress on the loader and thought best put it on the frame of the tractor should I ever hit something hard and frozen. Sounds like this blade will be much better for dirt work as well. Will look for a box blade later, appears to be much cheaper to find one other than John Deere's Frontier models. I'm told this is only the beginning and will likely spend much more on attachments in the future! Looking forward to a new green machine on my 80 acres!
My advice to anyone buying would be to get a quote from three different dealers. I was amazed at the price difference! As much as $3,000 cdn.

Great:D I think you will be much happier with the frame mounted blade vs. the loader mounted one.

Congratulations! I am considering the 3000 Series myself for my next tractor.

Thanks Kenny and JD. I hope I made the right choices for my yard work. Eventually a gang mower may be needed for my runway. And a rear blade, and a receiver hitch for my trailer, and a, and a.

Congratulations on your purchase decision. Hope your "few weeks" doesn't turn into three months like mine - but the wait was well worth it.

Hello KennyD!

BillyVan; i agree with KennyD, from personal experience and my gouged asphalt driveway! I did not have any issues with the frame mounted blade on my 4100! I am looking to fix that issue soon!

Did you get your new machine yet Nuru? Mine is sitting at the dealer's, still waiting for the blade and the mower deck to come in before taking delivery. Unfortunately I will be busy for the next two weeks so if it isn't ready today I will just have to wait a bit. Sure is big compared to my little JD L130! It's gonna be awesome!! I have inspired my neighbor into shopping for some green paint now too.

Not yet, still sharpening pencils with the dealer. However, we are pretty close. I am leaning hard towards a:

3520/Deluxe Cab/Mid PTO/auto cruise upgrade
300cx loader

Probably try to get 0% @ 48months from Deere credit.

Flail mower will be acquired separately most likely

It's here! Finally had a day off to go pick it up. Went to install the A frame front hitch and realized I am missing the brackets. Will go back to the dealer this week to pick up the box of parts I am missing. Looking at the MMM brackets that are installed already, they will have to come off and be replaced with the A frame front hitch brackets. At first it appeared that I would have to change brackets every time I want to switch from the MMM to the front blade. But after looking at the pictures in the installation manual it looks like there are provisions for the MMM mount on the A frame mount. Just have to adjust the length of the MMM supports. Looks like I can make them much shorter. Will know next week when I get the parts if this works. Seems to me I read a forum on this a while back that the A frame front hitch is compatible with the MMM. I sure hope so! As you can see from the pics there is not much green grass to cut here yet. Things are warming up nicely and there is plenty of moisture so I expect I will be cutting grass in a week.

Yep, it definitely looks good!

My 3520 should be here by 5/16, and my shed should be ready by 5/21:eek:. I got someone comng in to install a 7'6" door opening and door. I was gonna do it myself with a neighbor but decided to get it done by a pro - no worries.

So at some point this month the 3520 and the flail will get a workout. 4310 is working real good. I actually been experimenting with cutting with the loader on, and except for almost slamming into the gas meter:eek:, nickng a tree it was okay today. For some reason today I was a little bit less carefull than normal - I have mowed with the loader on before, and had no issues, but today bink,. almost boink/boom!
Oh well, stil cannot wait. Want to see how I can mow a coulple of areas where the slopes are interesting:eek:. Gotta becareful and plan out the attempts.

billyvan,

What a fine looking tractor! Congratulations. There's just nothing beefier looking than a 3xxx with turf tires and a mid mount mower.

Yup, you really have to watch it with the attachments. It's pretty easy to become an attachment junky.

Nuru,

I keep the loader on for mowing too (minus the bucket) and you DO have to be careful. One problem I have is, I like to keep the loader as low as possible for stability, but tend to take divots out of the grass sometimes when approaching the base of a steep hill if I forget to raise it up a little.

You know I kept the bucket on and that did block my visio a little, but I am usually so careful, but i was inda marveling at how easy it was to mow with it on. A little slower but way more smooth for some reason. Oh well, its on to the Cab Tractor and flail next. Maybe i will mow with the loader on the 3520? Or Maybe not!

Yeah approaching slopes is a challenge if you forg the loader's on!

We ordered a 5325 last week and was given a September delivery time frame. I was hoping for a cab during those long, hot, humid summer months.

That looks really nice Billyvan. Those turf tires look good on that machine. I always thought the standard R4 tires looked too small for the tractor. My larger R4s look about right. Of course, none of that matters, but the extra ground clearance sure does. Please let us know how quickly you can get the mower on and off. That's one of the attachments I will be debating over the next year as my walk-behind is slowly dying.
