Ordered a 2320; how longs the wait been?

/ Ordered a 2320; how longs the wait been? #21
A few months ago I was visiting my Daughter and her family in Augusta Ga. She lives in Groveton and about 2 miles from the John Deere plant. We called prior to my visit and scheduled a tour of the plant. She and I were the only two on the tour. It was great and I highly recommend it to one and all. You will walk the plant ... on right on the floor as they assemble the tractors. You are able and encouraged to ask questions. You will see them built the tractors (Utility i.e. 3000, 4000, some 5000 and 110’s) scheduled for the USA and the exports side by side. Sorry I was too excited about going and forgot my camera ... and I didn't ask if I could bring one either. Nice folks. The tour is at your own speed! The phone number is on the John Deere web site. Great Tour!

I just got an new update on my tractor. I ordered it on Apr 10th and the tradtor arrived within 10 days. The problem for me is the attachments. They thought they had everyting in last week but found the loader came with the wrong mounting brackets and that the 62D deck had not come in. It now looks like it will be mid May before delivery. If I don't have the tractor by then I will just cancel the order.

prentp, sorry to hear about your troubles... I'm kinda in the same boat, the tractor and loader should be in early this week but the Power Flow is just shipping... :(

Keep us posted, and I hope you get your machine soon!

em14, I was just talking to my Dad and he is going back there with a buddy of his and do that tour. His friend has been operating/dealing with heavy machinery for years and is excited to see it. Their also going to tour the Cat plant too.

He will really enjoy it. The plant is not a BIG place but you are able to say hello to the folks working on the machines as you are on the floor with them ... and you must keep out of the way as they move things and tractors on the line ... I forgot to tell everyone that this is also where they built what I heard is one of the longest running product line without major change in JD history ... the 700 series tractor.

I talked to my salesman today and he said that everything is in, and their just in the process of putting it together... Should be able to meet the Friday delivery date!! Woooo Hoooooooo:D :D :D

Worse than a kid at Christmas!:D :D

JD must ship this things in a million pieces, that it takes them so long to put together..

Told my dealer to stick a 2320 in the mail yesterday (They didn't have any in stock.). He didn't know at that point how long it was going to take to get everything in. He's out of the office for couple of days, so I was wondering what you guys have expericanced in ordering times..

Here's what I got:
2320
200CX
62D
Power Flow System

I'm on the West Coast, so I asume it makes a difference..

Thanks,
P.

My 2320 was delivered to the dealer here in Western New York last Tuesday, May 8th. Took 19 days from order to Dealer delivery. He had a 2305 and a 2520 in stock, but the 2320 with a 200CX loader and a 52" on-ramp mower was what I needed. I guess the price difference was my reasoning for selecting the 2320 over the 2520. The 2305 was out of the question for all of the reasons noted in the forums.

That's a great looking setup you have there! I keep seeing those, and I may have to think about getting one of my own. Let us know how you like the bagger setup....... I am very curious about that.

Chuck, I have only used it once so far, but all indications point to two thumbs up. I had a regular Garden tractor(JD 325) with the Plower Flow on a 48" deck before this, and it seems to do as good or better than it. Depending on what your cutting, you do get some "drop out", but I had that on my other mower too. I think this setup has way more suction than the Garden Tractor. When I first went over my lawn with it, I could hear all kinds of stuff getting suck up that the smaller tractor did get. I think one reason is that it has a lot higher RPM on the deck than the 325 did.

I was nervous about it, because I read about some people complaining on here about it. I think their expecting too much from it, and think its going to get every last piece of grass. But if your cutting some heavy wet stuff, this is not going to be the case. Especially if your on unlevel ground...

Over all I very happen the way the machine mows, and bags. I had no problems with the 62D making divots, and it left a very smooth and clean cut. After looking at the lawn I think it did a better job than the 325.

If your lucky maybe next time I will post some pics of the mow job... :D

Until then here's another shot...:D

ORCM, Thanks for the update, and thanks for the additional picture. It appears that the front antiscalp wheels on your 62D don't pivot like the ones that seem to be causing the problems. I wonder if JD has decided to change that?
The collector on my Simplicity works in a similar way, and I have been very pleased with it. There is some "blowout" in the front when collecting leaves, but it sure saves a lot of work!

Chuck,

Yes they do pivot, but they come with grease fittings on them now. One of the fixes JD has been retrofitting/trying. If you look at my other post on here I posted some closes ups of the wheels, with the fittings. My wheels are set to hit just before the deck does, and I saw them come in contact with the ground multiple times without any ill effects.

I can see why they made the wheels spin, it makes it really easy to move around when its off the tractor. It probably would have been better if they would just installed a lock on the wheel, so you could lock it straight..

I saw your other post after I replied, and felt a little foolish. There sure has been enough written about that deck with the initial problems. I'm glad that JD is addressing the problem, and it seems to be working just fine. Thanks for addressing my questions.
Chuck
