That has not been my experience. And I’m talking resale value. Check out the value of trucks with 200k miles; both diesel and gasser. What I stated is correct.
There is nothing stated incorrectly with his post. But yours is definitely wrong. Gas engines are just getting broken in good at 200k. If you keep fresh synthetic oil in them, they'll outlast you nowadays. Compression and power are better at 150k on a gas engine than when brand new. Ask me how I know.

And I know a friend with a Diesel at 450,000 miles with no major repairs. All engines have increased life span dramatically.

The 6L and above gassers will almost pull with the diesels. But they have to constantly shift and turn 3K+ rpms to do it. Not a bad thing if you can deal with it.

So, when the diesel and gas both reach 200K miles, how many more revolutions has the gasser turned? Eventually that is going to catch up.

Ok I'll ask, how do you know?

I will share my last experience with a 2017 F150 3.5 Ecoboost

Just traded it with 228,000 miles. Full synthetic it’s whole life. Compression was good. I did replace the catalytic converters at 200,000 as they had reduced flow.

It had a rattle at startup that I originally thought was the cam phasers. After time I became convinced it was timing chain rattle. I decided it was time to go new as at that point, I figure it had provided the best cost per mile. Got $12,000 trade in and that was that.

My decision was because of the unknown. If I went ahead with the timing chains and phasers, what would be next? I figured the 10 speed transmission and that is a very expensive one. No doubt engines last longer than they use to but at some point, vehicles reach their most economical cost per mile. Determining that point is the tough part.

That's a lot of miles in a few years, was it mostly unloaded or did it do a lot of heavily loaded/towing in that time?

....but Dodge (stellantis) diesels have the same Bosch CP4 injector pump problem and are recalling 240k vehicles.

Stellantis recalls more than 246,000 Ram Heavy Duty trucks to replace fuel pumps
But I guess GM and Ford aren't recalling because people are paying out their pocket. Dodges we use are 12 and 14 year models. We have a local guy that deletes all unnecessary items. We do have a pretty new f450 crew cab 4x4 flat bed. Sad you have to spend 7k after you buy it so you can have something useful.

Always have some weight. Towing not as frequent but pretty good size loads when I did.

I have to travel a good bit with my job and always drive so I have tools and parts with me in case something needs done.

Had a software update on Friday and the cargo camera is now working. Still have weird things going on with the CarPlay. It comes on then goes off randomly when connected wirelessly.

I am little disappointed with the gas mileage. Best I've got so far is just under 16mpg. Average is about 14. I've got right at 1000 miles on it now. Hopefully the fuel mileage gets better in time.

Not been my experience at all. And just compare the used truck selling prices for a gasser truck with 200k miles vs a diesel. The market doesn’t value high mileage gasser engines and that is correct. Yes, some people do get long life out of gasser engines. I sold 2 Jeeps that had over 275k miles still running good. But they had very little market value.
