i was planning on using 6x6 posts for my 24x30 pole barn, it will have 10 foot high walls, dang near all other pole barns ive seen or looked at the plans for, only use 4x6's, think the 6x6 is a little overkill? i sure would rather use the 6x6's because they are a little easier to lug around..?

My pole barn is 42' x 56' x 12' high and it has (3) pressure treated 2x6's laminated together for the posts.

My parents have a 30' x 36' x 9.5' high with pressure treated 4x6 posts.

These buildings are located in Northern Michigan with very high snow loads.

Good Luck

I kinda thought it was pointless to use the 6x6's for a 24x30 after i saw the plans for so many others and they only use the 4x6's, let me ask this, on the 30 foot length walls, im using 4 poles, spaced 9'4" apart, so i guess thats the bay spacing at 9'5", using 2x10 truss supports, is that still good to go with the 4x6's with the bays spaced at 9'5"?

I would be more concerned with the purlins and girts with the bigger bay spacing.

I would not be too concerned with 4x6 posts. However, poles usually require diagonal kickers to develop some fixity near the eave to resist wind loads.

Good luck
