older dr bachtold mower questions

I'll be looking at one of these tomorrow. The owner says it's an 8hp model and it has a lawn deck to go with it. Anyone have any experience with changing the decks on these? Does the lawn deck cut pretty well? I assume this model wouldn't take any other dr attachments, but anyone know for sure?

I also read somewhere on the web that these old models don't actually mulch, but are more of a "rotary sickle bar." I'm looking to go through tall grass to lay down some electric netting. Do you know if the grass lays down pretty flat?

A rotary mower has done a good job of putting grass down for the portable electric fence. If it isn't mown the fence seems to be less useful.
