Old rotary cutter, tail wheel assembly?

Without seeing it up close and measuring, my approach would be to find a bushing with an OD to go the whole way through the tail wheel socket with an ID that matches an assembly from High Grade. Then I'd weld the bushing in and tap it for a grease zerk. Adjustable height would be via spacers as found on RFM's.

The reason that tail wheel has a long shank (and lots of spacers) is that the rear mounting bracket is rigid. Newer rough cut mowers have a height adjustable mounting bracket.

This is my father in law's. I have been trying to keep up his place and it's gotten to the point that it's really difficult to use it like this. How would I go about finding parts for it. The biggest need is the whole tail wheel/yoke assembly.

That is a real simple fix. The tail wheel and fork assembly should be available online. That neck can be easily sleeved and welded, and reuse the fork even if the stem is not badly worn.

I'm not a welder so that would not be a "real simple fix".

Have you thought of paying someone or bartering with someone to fix it? The real simple fix is it might only cost you two chickens and not a whole flock,

What might be even easier, you may only need to replace the bushings or bearings for the stem.

Should be a welding shop near by that could fix it especially if you get the parts needed for a repair.
