Old oil extractor

I have two small engines (mower and log splitter) that have no oil drain plugs. For the mower I simply turn it upside down and let the dirty oil drain out the dipstick tube, but the splitter weighs a bit so that approach is impractical. The splitter manual refers to a suction device, but I can't find one.

Right now I'm using a lamb feeding tube on the end of a large syringe to suck the dirty oil out 30cc at a time. Is there a better way?

Yes

Topsider oil extractor (made by bigboy). Try marine store if automotive doesn't have it.

Any auto parts store and also Sears have suction devices from basic to elaborate to assist you.

There is a better way. But it cost.
I have a Jabsco oil changer that is a bucket and 12 volt pump for my boat oil changes. Works great. But cost over $150.
For your small engines a small suction gun like Bird suggest should work great.
Just make sure the engine oil is hot when you try to suck it out.

I knew you guys would help! Thanks! I'd gone to several of our local auto parts stores but all they had were special order rigs running $400+. Overkill for a mower. Sears is a bit of a drive, but now that I know what they look like I'll drive to the big city and check out Sears and the marine supply store. If that fails, I'll be free of my obligation to buy locally and will go with Harbor Freight.

A cheap sand baster and your air compressor would work. Put the suction tube in the engine fill plug and direct the nozzle into a small hole in the lid of a larger pail. Make sure there are two holes in the lid to let air escape and don't stand overtop of the lid.

This device can also be used with hot water and soap as a low pressure washer.

They are not very expensive if you don't require the high quality spray tip used in sand blasting.
