Offset flail mower recommendations

I agonized over a ditch bank flail's weight and width for my tractor. I ended up with a Del Morino Super Centurion 62", and I feel relatively comfortable with it in the fully offset position. It does get dicey when the tractor gets at maybe 5-10 degrees, but the whole purpose is to keep the tractor away from slopes or objects.

My Kubota L4060 cab has a bare weight of around 4000 lbs, configured weight of 6400 lbs with filled rears and loader. The mower comes in at 700 lbs.

Thanks for the followup explanation Lou. That is really a lot of weight hanging out there.

I thought you wern't supposed to extend it to the side while its up in the air, only on or near the ground. But I don't own one so maybe I'm missing something.

I am considering one for mowing the extensive blackberry on the fencelines on our Oregon place. Either that or a boom mower, but that's even more dependent on tractor weight, and they mow less area.

I have mowed with mine in the upright position. It does work a bit on the finer light stuff but heavier brush seems to bend over then spring past without getting clipped. At 45 degrees elevated for clipping the banks it does well;
this is about a 45 elevated mowing, ........................... this is about 45 down mowing the opposite bank

with it all the way up the geometry has the leading edge to far out from the hammers and much of what I'd like to be clipping doesn't get cut.

I do have a boom arm unit which will do the vertical trimming much better but it is a pain to get all hooked up and is much slower cutting because it's only a 48" head.
