No, wasn't a TC. The surprising part was both tractors were the same model, I think they were 3930 machines. The older of the two was a 2wd Ford badged machine, with the later model being a 4wd New Holland badged post-Fiat purchase machine. The tractors looked pretty much identical, except for the stickers with the name on them, but he said there was a difference in the quality of the tractors. He owned both at the same time, as he kept the first 3930 when he bought the second. He felt so strongly about there being a difference that he tried to find a low hour older 3930 4wd to trade the then nearly new 3930 4wd for, but was unable to locate one in our area.
The materials used in all brands of tractors have changed over the years. The metal hoods and fenders on the old tractors are much thicker than the metal on the hoods and fenders of the newer machines. On the flipside, engineering has changed and there are a lot of things that have improved over the years.
