The HVAC system in the Kioti NX series is, in fact, specifically designed to use the AC to dehumidify the cabin air during heater use in winter conditions. The "Thermicon" system uses a thermistor in the cab roof with a set point of 32F to protect the compressor, etc. The question here is what's going with Kioti Dave's tractor in particular that's keeping it from operating as designed.
Reading back through my quoted post, I should have said that it's
Kioti617's HVAC that seems not to be operating as designed. Kioti Dave's seems to be operating normally in cold weather after his dealer worked on it in November 2019. I should also have been more precise, for future readers of the thread, in describing the Thermicon system by distinguishing more clearly between ambient air temperature
outside the cab roof, and ambient temperature
within the cab roof space where the thermistor is located. (See graphic in my post #29).
As I understand it, the thermistor, with a nominal set point of 32F, is reading only the condition of the system within the cab roof space. So as long as conditions there are above the set point, the outside temp could be way colder, as Kioti Dave's and Eric's experience has shown.
At least that's my understanding of how the Thermicon design works. Since my NX is garaged in tempered space, the thermistor is always registering above the set point when started up. Plus, the temps here in No. VA have not really been cold enough this winter to test the limits of operation even when outside! With the forecast next week for temps reaching 60F, that's not likely to change. I'm not complaining about it, but it would have been nice to have used my rear snow blade with hydraulic offset at least once this season. It's still wrapped in its tarp on sleepers behind the barn.
