After installing Norton, twitter, me we and my Ameriprise account docs would not load.

Reinstalled Edge from IE.

Everything fine now.

Hope this is the last surprise on the new pooter.

Another problem (had this on a Dell before wife's current one) that the thing would not wake up from sleep overnight. Had to turn it off and back on.

Went onto HP Support. One thing suggested was to check for updates. The BIOS needed updating. Did that. Woke up this morning via the mouse.

Edge plucked me out of a couple web sites this morning. Pissed at it now. Had used it primarily on my Dell. Chrome snooped too much but needed for Google Earth. Never used Firefox much but had it. Was what the computer guy who came over wanted to us.

Downloading Firefox now.

What browsers do you guys use with what firewall software and computer.

I've designated Firefox as preferred now. Got Norton from CenturyLink our DSL provider. New HP all-in-one.

If you REALLY want to screw up a computer, install Norton. The only time I ever had to reinstall an OS (other than a hard drive failure) was when I tried Norton.

SeaMonkey is the only real browser left. It is the current descendant of the original web browser (before IE), Netscape Navigator. FF started as a stripped down version of it for people that didn't need the full suite.

Totally agree on the Norton haven't used it in years always slowed things down!! I run Fire Fox browser here and the only firewall and virus software is Windows built in! I figure it is made to work with Windows why not and it updates via Windows also. never a problem in many years now!! (knock on wood) Just my .02

I use Firefox on my main Windows XP system.....still use Netscape for my email (no viruses, etc) and DOS for many programs.

Never update anything, so no issues.....

Best to keep things simple

Do have a separate laptop with Windows 10 (or whatever it is now) just because some programs I need won’t run on the older system

Amen! If you want your computer to slow down to a dead stop - just install Norton. It (very slowly) checked every single screen you load. I wiped off Norton as much as I could - some files they load seem to be there forever; delete doesn't work on them. I went with AVG Internet Security - free version, and have yet to be hit with a virus. Double knock on that wood!
