Oil & Fuel No tax diesel fuel

To be honest, I have never run into that. It has always fit fine. I use regular diesel cans with no problem. The nozzle where I go looks to be the same size as a regular gas nozzle. Maybe a little bigger, but not so much that it would cause any problems.

Try another diesel pump, you were at the large truck pump with a nozzle that is designed to fill 100-200 gal tanks.

Some chain stations put the on road diesel pump in the middle of gas pumps. All have smaller nozzles.

All the truck islands will have large nozzles & a daughter pump on the other side wired together.

I just use a RED plastic fuel (gas) can and NAPA has a wide oval mouth funnel I use until I can afford to put a full fledged filling station on my lot. And some PowerService diesel additive. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I put a big permanent marker D on it for reference.

Here's a strange one....local mom & pop has a diesel pump
marked "highway use only". The fuel is pink though.

(I have been told that you can take the federal tax ($0.244) off your taxes some how for the same reason.. but I dont know that for a fact..) 

There are limitations. Farmers are specifically excluded from claiming a federal fuels tax credit on diesel, but are allowed to claim one on off-road gasoline.

Diesel cans are yellow, not red and are labeled as such. Better safe than sorry, you wouldn't want to accidently put the wrong stuff in either of your vehicles.

I bought 2 5 Gal yellow diesel containers at a local JD dealer for $8.00 each to carry the valuable "liquid gold".

Somebody put water in my brothers red gasoline can for his murray lawn tractor.
He ran out of gas in the lawn tractor grabbed up the red can and filled the tractor tank.

Guess the water was color blind LOL

( Just filling my first new BX-23 tank today, and surprised to see the fill nozzle was bigger than the spout on the brand new yellow diesel can I bought. This was at an on-road pump. Is this the standard so that folks don't put diesel in their gas cars? but then why aren't the yellow cans equipped with a larger mouth to accept this crazy big nozzle? *What do you guys do? )

( There's only one place where I live that has the off road diesel that is dyed red. Some people use it but their turnover is so little that the fuel is sometimes old. Several local tractor dealers have told me it may be cheaper but not a good choice because of the fuels age. I get mine at a local truck stop and pay the tax. Hopefully it's fresh.
To pseudofarmer, I asked the same question to the owner of the station that has the off road fuel. He said his is not heating oil. I know one person who uses heating oil and so far hasn't had a problem. )

If you don't use the fuel on the road you don't owe the tax.
Makes no difference if it's on road or off road.

( There is NO difference between "off road" and regular diesel...they are the same product.....NO higher sulfur content diesel is being refined in the US....The only difference is that "off road" is dyed with AR dye...Automated Red dye....same stuff that makes transmission fluid red....colored red to help the inspection stations find tax cheats....BIG fine....if you are caught.... )In OHIO you don't have to pay the tax on diesel that's not used on the highway so it don't make any difference if it's on or off road.

1* Here in Portland I am able to get off road fuel from several different places. Not all of them are dyed red.
2* I do have to fill out a tax form for them to process
3* Someone was tossing a fit one day when I was getting fuel for the tractor because I was getting it so much cheaper than he was for his truck.

3* What's his beef I'm the one getting the shaft from the on road stations not him. At least he's getting what he paid for but I'm not!
