No Spill Can Go Boom

/ No Spill Can Go Boom #21
The snap vents on mine stay closed. Mine are kept in a carport 30 yds from the house. All my fuel cans are. Temps exceed 100f at times. Had one blow apart as OP did and went to flex hose right after that.

Ticket for wrong cans, never heard of anyone ever getting that here. I will take my chances. The EPA designs are dangerous to use near hot engines since they are designed so stupidly. The Spill Proof is ONLY good for tanks that open on the top, and are an absolute B***h to use.

The thing about the EPA is they do not make laws, they make "rules" and we somehow have no say in the matter. I will fight on that basis if I ever need to. The world is not going to end if I use an "unapproved" container. How about they start solving REAL problems.

I always liked these...

Caps have threaded plug you can pull out, put in 1/2 NPT valve and add short hose , life is good....

Funny thing is I don't even own one....

I use these, and only these anymore. they come in colors for different fuels, I have a yellow for my diesel, etc. The hose is super flexible, the only downside is the plastic threaded portion is a tad cheap, my fuel oil delivery man hit the can in the garage during a fill & it broke the spout clean off, new hose pieces without the shut off are only like $5. I bought all mine through that website named after a really big river.

This is what I put on my newer plastic 1, 2, 5 and 6 gallon gas cans, just don’t drill the hole for the vent cap to big.

I use the same. Have the small diameter spouts for gas, and the large diameter spout versions for diesel. No mess, no fuss, no problems.

Yea it take a 1/2" hole for the vent. I have those on nearly all mine. I will use factory part till the gasket goes then I replace the whole spout. Of course here in CA we have to buy "white" ones meant for water, because that does not comply with CARB.

I am soooo fed up with these idiots.

The local hardware store had only the dual spout ones in stock for awhile for 14.00 and now they also carries the single spout package for 11.00 due to people requesting the single because not everyone needs the bigger spout, the single small spout also works real nice with the ford white gas tank funnel that come with newer ford vehicles that don’t use a gas cap.

You could just put the flex hose on after you get back from filling it. Who would know but you ?

yes they suck they will blow gas back into your face so much for safety

Those replacement spouts fit every size gas cans imagionable but the ones (plural) that I have.....So tired of stores full of crap that don't fit or work properly....

Just punch holes in old can out of despiration so I don't try to reuse, and then just buy new can with poor design filler to add to my frustration....

Yesterday I had an “American Can” 5 gallon gas container split at the top handle mold line. Date of manufacture is 19 August 2015. You may want to check ur containers if you own some of these.

Some of mine have split too. I will be going steel cans and take my chances with rust.

One thing is clear,"new & improved" is certainly far worse than what we had before. I have Blitz cans mfgred in Miami Ok that are so old I don't remember buying them. New cans seldom last 2 years and like others have ,I've spilled more gas from EPA cans in the past year than I spilled in 10 years from old style.

So far, I've had good luck with these recent Scepter cans. I like the footprint. Costco has them in 2 packs once in a while up here.

Scepter makes these too....

..... but so far my plastic cans haven't irritated me enough to spend that kind of money.

For metal cans, I'd use Stabil's 360 protection (supposed to help above the fuel line), and wouldn't let the can sit empty.

I should add, we use Justrite 5 gallon cans to load fuel into ATV's which is not at all, ergonomical. That is we'd need to crawl up on there sides and stand in the stirrup to load the fuel. These machines have pods which raises them much higher than your normal ATV. The cans we got have a 7/8 flexible spout that allowed a nice fast flow.
