Tractor
Mahindra 6000 4WD
I just bought a 2002 6000 4WD with the 264 FEL. I read the manual, so of course started poking around the tractor to find everything. I found the PTO speed lever that changes it from 540 to 1000. I moved the lever, and I believe it is now turning at 1000 rpm. I want it in the 540 setting, but it will not budge. The manual is no help. Is this something that takes force, or is there a sequence of what should and should not be engaged or set when I try to shift it back to 540?

Thanks in advance from a newbie.

Just smart enough to get in big trouble.

I have a 5500, I havent shifted mind since I bought it, but I will now, you might want to try turning the pto shaft with your hand as you move it back to 540, with the tractor not running.

You said you had the 264 fel, I thought the 2wd had the 264 and the 4wd had the 265, thats 5500 to the 6500 series tractors. Or maybe it depends when you bought it??

I've got an '02 6000 4WD as well...it is a 264 KMW loader (at least mine is....). The PTO speed lever will move, but you may have to give it a good shove...as previously posted, try turning the shaft whiletrying to change the lever... you may also want to try and turn it backwards while you try..there may be a small detent in it...BobG in VA

Thanks to you guys, I was able to get it to move back into the 540 speed. I wiggled the PTO shaft will I lightly tapped on the lever with a 2 lb. sledge hammer. Presto! It popped right back into gear.
