Sure, understand your point. But if the clanking is only when he has the implement in the extreme "up" position then there is nothing wrong and no reason to have anybody look at it.

and after 6 hours of use my brand new tiller had NEW noises when raised and needed gear adjustment PER woods, dealer fixed it. secondary noise was one loose tine (only heard when tines in ground) but dealer had tiller for a week and 10+ hours of calls with woods reps (including pics of internal gears sent, etc) due to a noise only when raised up.
so yeah. we pay for the warranty, use it.

backlash adjustment reset and warranty on that section reset.
edit: I should mention I also had noise when deep INTO dirt but...the loose tine offset that noise.
snap noise not the same as the high angle of attack thud noise.

Thanks to everyone that commented. I finally got out there to give it a good looking over keeping in mind the comments of this post and found that I have 2 tines on same plate that are loose. Not sure why that would happen the soil i was in was pretty soft. Can't find much on the fix for this. Is this something easy to fix or will I need to take to dealer to fix. The way they are loose I don't understand. The bolts seem intact. When I moved them I noticed there is another hole in the top tine plus (Im assuming) another hole that the bolts is in.

Also, did you grease the U-joints? Do you feel any slop (if you turn the shaft by hand with the tractor off does it rattle or skip)?

I did not grease the u joints but i will be now to make sure they are greased. thanks for commenting

Bolts that aren't torqued properly loosen, bolts that are over tightened, sometimes stretch. (read loosen)

I never reuse tine bolts, I always use new QUALITY bolts, every time.

Here is a picture of the tine. Do you think its just gotten loose and needs tightened up? or is there something broken? The bolt doesnt seem broke, and why is there the extra hole? ... Its only been used for about 40 minutes...thanks

There should be 2 bolts holding every tine.

Sawyer is right. Look at the tines that are not loose and see how they are connected, With only one bolt those tines will be swinging and banging like crazy . You did not say whether you had filled the gear box and side box with fluid.

Yes I checked the gear boxes and they were full I will check the tines that are not loose and compare.

I checked and there is only 1 bolt per tine, so im a little confused esp as there is that extra hole which im guessing is for using for different positioning or rotation of the times....
