New truck #@$%@#&

I am going with new 4x4 decals on our 2010 and have noticed several 4WD without the 4x4 decals. Not everyone likes them it seems and not all truck makers use them it seems. Our old ones are a faint golden color that just do not grab me.

I was leaving work and saw this, I just laughed.

It’s a contractors 2015 or newer F150 XL single cab 8ft bed 2wd (no 4x4 graphics) next to my 95 F350 XL dually flatbed single cab 9ft bed. My hood is a hair lower than the F150 and bottom of windows are about equal.

I don't get it?

That's funny. I have a friend who drives his vehicles with the A/C on in hot weather, but insists on keeping the system on recirculate all the time. Even after the air has gone stale inside from occupants breathing.

There was an interesting article in Motor Trend recently that discussed air quality inside vehicles today. Tests have shown that modern vehicles, which are sealed quite well, can have high CO2 levels inside in as little as 25 minutes with one occupant. That is with the air controls on recirculate. For 2 occupants, it is half that time. High CO2 causes drowsiness and higher risks of a crash. Some new vehicles will have CO2 monitors as a result.

Ya can't trust those vehicle owners with control of their HVAC systems!

The interior air does not go stale or have high CO2 on re-Circ as the blend is 25% outside air to 75% interior . Unless the test is stacked with 6 overweight passengers and the fan set to the lowest setting.

I hate how tall new trucks are, the deck of the F150 is almost as tall as my F350, my buddy parked his 05 4x4 2500hd duramax next to a newer 4x4 F150 and the F150 was taller lol, looked stock, was a platinum truck, bed sides were a good 4in taller.

Guy off swamp loggers bought his service trucks as 2wd and converted them to 4x4 because he doesn’t like how tall the 4x4 trucks sit. This was some years ago but even watching that I remembered I liked that idea.

If you are just cruising around with a modern tall 4x4 as personal truck, not a big deal.

Working out of a truck all day/every day..... a high load height will get old pretty fast.....

Amen...

One thing to look at and tool down the road... another to actually have to work out of.

A co worker used to put lowering shackles on 4x4 f150s for farmers, they didn't like the load height. He put them on his truck so his wife could get groceries out of the back.

My '97 f350 4x4 doesn't have decals. If I recall correctly, I ordered it with a decal delete; I don't remember removing them myself. I don't like decals...

That's where vans are nicer (preaching@choir :)) - even the factory 4x4 ones have a reasonable load-height.

My arithmetic OCD has me wanting to draw a line and write 16 when I see those.

Fortunately, I'm not into vandalism. :)

That took a minute to sink in. :D

Ditto.

I* completely de-badged my '15 Ram, and replaced both front and rear emblems with non-brand specific billet aluminum ones. If someone can't tell it's a 4x4 Ram with a Hemi, they probably don't care.

*actually, the dealer did it for me, at no charge :)

The only numbers you have is a single person in a sealed compartment takes 25 minutes to reach the CO2 limit. I don’t see any numbers for the real world where the HVAC fan is operating in the vehicle and the compartment is not sealed ?
I have done more gas testing and calibration of life safety test equipment such as the Draeger 7000 than the majority of folk here.

There are lots of papers and studies out there on interior air quality. Low O2, high CO2, and high VOCs are apparently
a problem that affects drivers, esp when ventilation is limited. That "new truck smell" is actually somewhat toxic (VOCs).
You may dismiss it, but it does exist. Some of us also feel the stuffiness of recirculated air sooner than others.

I do that anyway. I tend to use maximum cold setting and adjust the fan speed accordingly.

That's actually what I do. Just got back from a 7 hour drive from Lake Charles. Fortunately it stayed overcast most of the way so it was set it and forget it.

We buy strip down trucks for our company all the time. They'll sell em to anyone. They're not really cheap, but are certainly less expensive than my personal truck with all the frills.
