I feel for you. I usually take a similar approach as you and try to resolve issues like a gentleman. Getting pissed off has never really gotten me anywhere when dealing with problems like you are having.

If I was in your shoes, I would figure out a way to get out of that machine and into something you have confidence in. The financial sting only hurts for a while.

Thank you. Maybe someday I will be able to get into a M-Series Kubota with Ag tires and all the stuff I have with this. But that would be a while.

You could be right. It may be some sort of fuel issue. But I can start the tractor and let it run and it will keep running. It's only after I have worked it for a while will it start having the issue. It may be that it is causing that valve, pressure relief valve, to do what they say. I don't know why. But it does seem to be doing what JB1390 says. It shuts down the top rail pressure to prevent damage? Does this by mistake. Loses all power when trying to use anything. But still runs after you let off of said attempt at using power. Something like that. I'm far from a mechanic and have not studied this engine.

If you have debris in the tank it'll be a bit random in its finding the fuel outlet.

Had there not been any interest in a fuel cap I would have tended to think about looking from the IP forward, with "pressure" issues being that the IP was delivering too high of pressure. But, "pressure" is also resistance, so there could be resistance in pulling fuel. Problems associated with fuel cap issues would, I'm imagining, be pretty much relegated to vent blockages, and vent blockages would cause resistance to pulling fuel from the tank.

As I see it, it's something fairly simple like fuel blockage, a bad IP and or bad sensors (maybe injectors could provide faulty feedback, I don't know).

I'd flat out have a discussion about how much longer, given the time already spent on this, that they feel you should be willing to go before settlement. Seems that since the problem is able to be duplicated that they should take complete control of the tractor, giving you something to use in the meantime, until they can resolve it. There should be a further time line stated after such time if there is no resolution that A) Your original purchase prices is fully refunded and they keep the tractor; B) You are given a new replacement (and are well catered to to help offset the headaches). I'd also look to see what their warranty stuff states, whether you might not have the right to file a suit against them (to ensure you don't lose money). Mahindra needs to step up it's QA game and or it's technical support game: every manufacturer should endeavor to do this, even if they think they're at the top of the heap!

I received a further update from Mahindra person in Texas. After another complaint I sent to them.

Here is what they said:

The area service manager will be at the dealer on Wednesday 11/22/2017 to inspect your tractor. He is currently attending school in Houston this week and will not return to his area until Monday.

Thanks for your understanding.

I have a 2005 Toyota Tundra and a 2012 KIA Optima Hybrid and quality is awesome in both :thumbsup::laughing:

Heck, I got stuck with a rental Toyota Sienna (check engine light, hundreds of miles from home), they came and replaced it with a Sedona, and we decided, after 750 miles, that the Kia was a better vehicle.

Just remember that despite everyone saying "dump it", any machine can be fixed. At the moment, you aren't paying for the fixing. I don't know who makes your Mahindra model (my 2540 is a TYM with a Mahindra engine), but the only issues I've had with mine in over 100 hours are that the plastic rear fender extensions ("mud flaps") have cracked, and there was a tiny fuel leak at an injector. As they are the heck in the way when the quick hitch is raised, I've removed them and will put some LED tail lights on the ROPS. Fixing the fuel leak took a wrench and 1/8 of a turn. It's tight in there! Otherwise, no issues.
If you get all of the gremlins chased awayé*nd with Mahindra, you have several years to do soé¥ou should have a reliable tractor.
Also, I concur on the fuel feed issue; I'd probably pull the fuel line from the tank, make sure that the cap was tight, and see how it drained back into my fuel can. If it goes quickly then slows down, loosen the cap. If it then speeds up, the cap vent isn't sufficient. If it still goes slowly, drain the tank and find out what's wrong.
As it costs $130 to have my tractor taken to the dealership, I tend to fix little things myself, in any case.

You know I’m just so dam frustrated at this point I don’t want the tractor. 260 hours! I should be way further along on my projects and now winter is setting in. Why, after paying this kind of money for a brand new machine, should I have to be going through this?

They have it again and have had it more days now than I have been able to work it on my days off from job.

260/8 hour day = 32.5 days of working it.

It has sat in my barn or in there Shop 34 days now being down from one thing or another. And me waiting for them to fix it.

Hey. I meant to say thank you as well. I appreciate your ideas. And you make some good points.

A positive attitude, like yours, is the one that I need to have moving forward. I also need to be realistic. I have a lot of work to do and need a reliable tractor so I can make good time getting the many projects done that I want to do.

We will see what Mahindra and my dealer come up with this week and then I, and everyone I communicate with will know how they support a customer who has had a lot of problems with their tractor, that has resulted in way too much lost time for them and their work.

Again. I appreciate your response, and everyone’s responses.

Talked with the owner of Mahindra dealership today. Wanted to see if they had any update on status of tractor. He told me to call over to local store and talk with mechanic to see if he made any more progress. Did that. He said he is still trying to figure it out. I also confirmed with both of them that the area representative will be here tomorrow. They will be calling me when it is time to meet up.

Update:

Dealer called me at about 11:30 am and left me a message on my phone. (He won’t be there, he had told me that already). Representative will be here today at 1pm, not tomorrow. I saw the message at 12:30. Had to quickly get ready and get over to the store. He was getting ready to leave when I got there. I remained calm and told him of all my problems. And all my lost time.

I state in front of all there, including the other folks who work there that I am not unhappy with the mechanic, I’m not unhappy with the dealership. They have been good. This is a Mahindra problem. These folks don’t have control over how the tractors are built and the quality control. And he said okay. Well we have it fixed. He and the mechanic said they did not have the latest software in the computer and he did now and they reflashed it and can’t get the problem to happen again.

Well, I’ve been through this before. So I first asked him what Mahindra was going to do for me about all my lost time. He said he can’t do anything for me, his job is to make sure the tractors are fixed. He can’t do anything else until he talks with Corporate in Texas. Well I need to know what Mahindra is going to do for me. And I said, can you call them right now and explain everything? So he said, I can try. He then goes to his car and attempts to call him. No answer, left message. Mechanic leaves after stating he will get my tractor back to me on Friday. I said that’s my last day off. I won’t be able to do anything again for three more days. So then he agreed to try to get it to me Wednesday.

He then leaves. So I go out and talk with representative some more before he leaves. Explain to him how frustrated I am and that I’m going to leave the tractor in the barn until I hear back from him and what Mahindra Corporate is going to do for me. He says I need you to go out and work your tractor so you and I can see that it is working properly now.

So I said how long do you have? Can I pull the tractor out here right now and work it for a while. He said sure you can. We go back in the store and he opens the overhead and I bring it out. He stands there while I work it. After about 7-8 minutes of a combination of driving it back and forth and using loader and backhoe hydraulics I get it to do it again. Loss of power anytime I try to do something with anything hydraulic related.

So I say to him. Now imagine he brought the tractor back to me and I don’t use it until I need it. We get a big snow storm and after about 7-8 minutes I’m left with no power, limp mode. Okay, but I don’t think it’s limp mode. We have some troubleshooting to do.

So I told him that I don’t want to bash all Mahindra tractors. Just this one. This one has spoiled me on this tractor. I don’t want it. And I said I really appreciate you coming here and really need you to do something about this. He said understands my frustration and he would fight for my cause by talking with Corporate.

I talked with him about either buying the tractor back or possibly getting me a different tractor. Please see what you can do for me. But I have lost way to much time with this tractor and I can’t get it back. My projects are now delayed until next summer.

Then I talked with about his Thanksgiving plans and family etc. And I said I will let you go and get on the road. We wished each other a Happy Thanksgiving and said good by.

So now I wait, again, with no tractor for my days off, to see what comes next.

I hate to hear this and can only imagine your frustration, but I think you 100% handled everything perfectly. Especially getting it to repeat the problem on site! Hope they get you fixed up.
