My brush hog is directly driven off of the hydraulic motor. It was purchased in 2001.

Actually, isn't there a spindle on the TOP of the brush hog that needs greasing?

I was unable to find a zerk fitting so I called the factory. They responded, "No zerk because it is the new model with direct drive." Don't know what "new" means, MossRoads is a 2001. Mine is 2004. In any event, the motor casting mounts directly on the deck. ???

I thought I saw where someone replaced the hyd motor on their mower, and even tough it is direct driven, it still turns a spindle which has at least two bearings. If the bearings are not sealed, it will have to be greased about every 8 to 15 hours.

Please correct me if your hyd motor turns that swing blade directly without going through a spindle and bearing assembly

Here's some pictures of my brush hog disassembled.

Picture of the shaft sticking up through the deck. 3 of 5 bolts installed to hold the hub underneath. The bracket for the motor and the grease zerk at the bottom left in the shadows.

Picture 2 all 5 bolts installed. Arrow pointing out grease zerk.

Picture 3 shows bottom half of love-joy connector on shaft. Rubber star sitting on top of deck waiting to be installed.

Picture 4 rubber star installed.

Picture 5 motor installed onto shaft. It had the other half of the lovejoy connector on the motor shaft already. Motor mounting bolts not installed yet.

Hope this clearly shows what I have. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Is the new one different?
