New L48

Took my new Kubota to camp today to try it out grading road with my BH84 Box Blade. The R4 tires don't
pull as well as the ag tires on my Case 530. But the 4x4 took care of that. Only problem was a missing nut
on the draft control linkage. Two miles back in the wood and I couldn't lift the blade off of the stump it was caught on. Was able to slip the linkage back into the place long enough to get back on the trailer.

Hey John,
I hope you will keep us up to date as you get more hours on your L48. I saw my first one the other day and sure would like to spend some time in the seat. Kind of like my little B21 on steroids.

Welcome, you will find this board a great source of info. Have about 100 Hrs on my L48 now. Had it back for pto adjustment (was slipping) and fix check valve in backhoe that was leaking, otherwise, GREAT MACHINE!

Stopped at the dealer to pick up a nut for the draft control linkage and found that they don't have their L48 Service/parts manuals so we had to guess what size nuts to use. He gave me 2 each of 3 sizes and it turned out the middle size was correct. It was a little hard to reach but we got it tight and the second nut on as a lock .
I had the Backhoe Bucket traded for a 24" one and it was in. Tomorrow I will try digging with it.
Foz do you use the PTO a lot seem a little soon to be adjusting the clutch. What hydraulic ckt was the bad check valve in?

PTO was not set right at factory, but yes i do use it a lot, valve was in stabilizers on bh

Re: L48 Loader Problems

Dropped my L48 at the dealers Monday for them to install the pressure gage I talked about in my last post. ( see the L48 or L4610? Thread Under Kubota / Buying/Pricing)
Took a long lunch Wed. and stopped by the Kubota dealer to see if they had found anything and the mechanic was doing a flow/pressure test of the pump. They tapped into the line from the pump feeding the loader control valve and put the output from the test set into the hydraulic fill cap. The throttle was set at 2600 RPM and then he closed the flow valve until the pressure went up to 2775 psi. took only about 3 min for the temperature to reach 122 F . At that point the flow meter read just over 10 gpm the manual calls for 12.26 but the mechanic thought that was fine.
At that point I had to go back to work (bummer) and couldn't get back until Friday.
At that point they told me that that they had found the pressure to the loader cylinders to be about 500 psi. Low and had adjusted it up, but because something caused it to change they are going to go ahead and replace the spool valve.
The service manager wanted to know if I wanted to leave the hydraulic leveling valve off. Told him that it was OK for testing but I expected it to work in the end. Used the analogy of buying a new truck with automatic transmission and when it wouldn't work pulling it out and putting in a standard transmission. Would you accept that?
Guess I will have to wait another week to see what happens.
