Puchased from Voyles Equipment in Carnesville, Ga. We purchased the tractor for a total price of $16,930 including the boom pole, all fees included. Dealer gave us $2000 for a 1951 Ford 8N. Since it was free money, financed $14,930 for 36 months at 0%. I would also recommend Goss Tractor in Jasper, Ga. They gave us a better price on the tractor, but about half for the trade in.

tex,

How does your 3130 pull a 6' box blade? Does it struggle or just rip right through it? I know it depends on the type and condition of the soils, but I'm just looking for an overall opinion on the size.

Vernon,

Glad it finally arrived. Hope you post your impressions of your new tree shear. (I'm still trying to decide whether to buy one)

Can't tell you yet. My Bush Hog is an old one and the driveline is not good. I am working right now to take it off the mower and have it rebuilt. I have pulled the shear bolt and the retainer on the end of the gear box shaft but can't pull it off, even with the tractor. Got it soaking with some more P'Blaster. Will try again this evening. Too hot to work outside after about 11:30.

I have used it some just to try it out. It takes getting used to but I think that it will really do my job. I have found one small problem using it on a LA723 loader that is related to the linkage geometry. It is also a position that you would rarely get into. When you raise the loader and lower the tree shear to the full dump position, the loader won't pick it back up. It only occurs in the last 3 to 5 degrees of movement. It is very easy to get out of, just back up the tractor and drag the tip along the ground until the loader will pick it up all the way. I could put LA853 bucket cylinders on the loader at great expense but why?

I will post more later with pictures but in general I am very happy with it. The next job I will tackle is the thicket of yaupon and wild grape behind the house. Some of the grape vines are 5" in diameter. Should be fun

By the way, a grapple on your bucket is a necessity to clear up with.

I really didn't answer your question. Sorry! I had just come in after fighting with the Bush Hog so that was on my mind. I have not tried the box blade yet. Have been concentrating on getting the mower operational since every thing is so high. Maybe since the rains have stopped and the temperatures are high, the grass will stop growing. Heat indices are hitting 105 -110 degrees F.

I will be posting my experiences from time to time so will be talking about the box blade in the future.
