New JD 990

Well it looks like I am trading my 850 MFWD in for a 990 MFWD w/300cx loader that has 40 hours on it. It looks brand new as it should and was 13k plus my 850. What do you folks think and what can I expect from it? Need it to run a woods 15 foot finish mower,6 foot woods RD7200 finish mower, an older 5 foot woods bush hog and a JD 666 snowblower. Could not bring myself to spend the extra money on a hydro and am very used to the two stage clutch. Also this is the first loader I have had on any of my own tractors. Your comments and ideas would be great.

The 990 is a great unit . they cut a few corners from the old ones ,to keep the cost down. its all yanmar witch is the best part!

I did almost the identical deal 4 years ago. I sold my 850 and bought a repo 990 with 25 hours. The price was $17K and included a 430 loader. I have since added a 8B backhoe. The machine runs a 6' finish mower like its not even there. I'd be interested to hear how it performs with the 15 footer.

I would be surprised that a 990 would run a 15 ft mower

JSR, I am dealing with a used dealer in central Ohio. Gizmo, do you have r-4's and if you do are they wider than the 6 foot finish mower? Does anyone know the width with r-4's as I am leary that they will be wider than my 66 inch rear snowblower. Thanks for the help.

I have R4s and I believe that the total width was right at 6 feet.

Going to pickup the 990 on Saturday morning. The next few days will be long and hate to see the old 850 go. I will post pictures if anyone wants. Can I get 3rd function hydraulics and rear hydraulics on the 990/300cx? I may need a grapple or 4 in 1 bucket in the near future.
