Everyone says fall is the best time to sew new grass seed. I was wondering what the window would be here in central Illinois. When would be latest to do it. I am planning on running a new electric line the first part of October so I wanted to wait until it was finished. Would that be to late?

The middle of October sounds a little late. I doubt that it would get established enough before cold weather. Around here (NW Missouri) the guru's say it's ideal to have the seed in on September 1st.

I have 750# of seed that is to be delivered today. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif I've got some plantin' to do!

The saying that I remember is "Plant grass any month with an R". I've planted my front yard early March and back yard in late October 4 years ago and by the end of the second year I could tell no difference. I did cover with straw and water a lot.
