It looks like your tubing is 1/4" wall. I don't think you need that leg in the front center. I would remove it as it's just going to be in the way of moving stuff/junk in and out of under the work bench. If strength concerns you then I would just add another piece of tubing horizontally to strengthen it. Good looking bench!

Nice job !! You always have the ability to get things done on the fly !! I have the same welder. Do you use the Argon gas with it or just use the plain wire ?

Just wire, don稚 want the hassle of dealing with gas. I知 far from a good welder, but it痴 good enough to get the job done.

Time for paint!

Nice job. I do need to get me a small welder to play with. I have a vice that needs a table.

It really does come in handy. Even for little stuff that needs repair. To buy a workbench that size would have been super expensive. Sure it'd be better made, but that'll suit my needs for now.

Nice project and looks good.

That leg isn't short, the others are tool long. :D

I agree on both accounts... get rid of the leg and nice bench!

I built shelves using angle. Welded plates (squares the size of the angle) that I tapped to 3/8-16. Each leg has a bolt and a hex nut to lock them when all leveled and the bolt ends are in contact with the concrete. Not anchored down, just sitting there.

Siding came yesterday. Nice crane truck put them in the yard. He seemed a bit new at the remote crane opperation but he didn't hit anything. It was a bit windy yesterday so we waited until today. Got a half of the left side done. I'm really glad we started on that side because there's a learning curve on keeping your screws strait. I didn't even realize it as I walked down the unlevel plank on the pump jacks. Plus reaching made me go down as well.

Looking REAL good!

Pre Drill your screw holes In this case you could pre drill every sheet that goes on a side at once. Makes you look like a professional. And dramatically speeds up installation.

That's genius...

If screwing 6-8 sheets at a time, run a screw in the first hole you drill so the sheets don't move during drilling. A couple pair of vise grips or C clamps will do the same thing if you protect the sheets from damage with a block of wood.

I like to predrill. I just have to be mindful of the edge if there is overlap. If I can’t predrill or pull a string, I just cut a stick of appropriate length. Maybe off a fraction, but not really visible.

Be careful drilling multiple sheets at a time. You can get drill chips between the sheets and can scratch the finish when you pull them off (learned that the hard way). I ended up just marking a tape measure and then marking the screw locations with a Sharpie dot and let the screws do the drilling. A little bit slower but the rows are straight and no scratches.

All good advice, thanks. hopefully tomorrow will be easier, although today really wasn't as tough as I thought.

I use to drill the holes. Then used an awl and hammer. Now if going into wood I just use the felt tip since the screws go through the tin so easy.
Make yourself a story pole with the hole locations. Much quicker than using a tape measure.

All these methods will work. You just have to decide what your expectations are. Do you want them sortta lined up, kinda straight, straight, or perfect? Do you want to place the screws once, or repeatedly with each sheet? Once you've made those decisions then pick the method that gets that result. :D
