Got the last of the plywood up on the side. Finished up the hurricane ties. The wind was blowing terribly. Got a lot of cleanup done then put the fascia boards on. Short day and the sun set pretty early now that the time change, and when it did, the temperature dropped pretty quickly.

Looking to finish fascia tomorrow then back wall plywood and if we’re lucky start on plywood for the roof. Depends on how voting goes, if the lines are crazy it may cut into work time.

Today high in the 50’s, but the rest of the week is supposed to be mid 60s, so I’ll look forward to it. No more rain in the forecast as well. Should be done roof and tyvek this week with any luck. I should get on the phone with some garage door guys.

Built the front overhang and finished the side fascia boards. Then i sent my buddy off to vote while i moved 5 sets of scaffolding off the second floor and set up behind the garage to do the final plywood on the walls. Lines were 2-3 hours, I got there around 8 and out at 11:30. Worked until 3 and sent him off when I saw a facebook post about 10 minute lines. Apparently they were wrong, and it took hours.

Got up on the scaffolding and cut the excess plywood on the one side and nailed some plywood on the back. Up 5 sets of scaffolding it shakes like michale j fox. not very fun, I think I actually prefer the pump jacks to it.

looking good, but I'm telling you, it needs gothic windows on those tall sides.

I worked for a brick layer in high school. I hate scaffolding over 1 story high. I didn't have to work up on it, but I had to set it up and take it down. Blech!

I was thinking that big side would be great for outdoor movie night in the summer. ;)

Looking good, but I'm worried about what those legs of the scaffold are resting on???

Love the storm ties.

Yes, that scaffolding is very scary looking!

And also yes, you need some windows! I suppose you can cut them in later once you get your interior layout figured... but it is more of an Ark now.

I'm liking more and more the idea of an exterior hoist to the second level.

Love the storm ties.

The one is sitting on the exposed footer, 12" of concrete with rebar. The other is sitting on 3/8" steel plate, about 50 years old. I was iffy at first but that is solid. Definitely not plywood.

I'll think about windows down the line, I have a lot of work to do first before it's even usable. Insualtion is going to be pricy, drywall, wiring, and the wiring is going to be a bit on the complicated side. I'm going to town with that, i never want to be out of arms reach for an outlet. Tired of extension cords.

We're just messing with you. However, Gothic Windows do play into A Mans House is His Castle. :)

Yes. Drive in movie without ever leaving the property! Just need a old time station wagon to back up to the garage screen and..... uh,,,, watch the movie.

I hesitate only because I fall asleep with just about any movie.

Finished rear overhang, finished rear wall, which was all the walls left. Walls done, finally. The entire roof on all sides overhangs the building by 12". The steel siding is verticle strips, so hopefully it'll prevent anything from getting between it and the wood.

Got the first row of plywood up on the roof. Feels like i'm doing the 2nd floor again, laying it, marking it. Only there's no T&G and no annoying self tapping screws. Also picked up the ice shield and tyvex. The plan is roof tomorrow will be done and ice shield started, friday finish ice shield, start tyvex. Garage door people are supposed to come friday as well.

I was looking hard at those battery framing nailers. They seem great but as much as the hose gets in the way, it sure as **** has saved the gun from a horrible drop onto hard surface. And more than once it's saved me from falling. Granted it always gets stuck on something, but somethings it's a good stuck.

I think you maybe happy that you have a fairly flat roof pitch laying like that in the last picture. You would not catch me up there like that. Everything looks great. Jon
