Been lurking here for a couple months since I purchased 8 acreas. Its old farm field that was split into parcels in the early 2000s. One large tree and mostly overgrown weeds. Lots of teasel. Looking at buying a Kubota as they are the only dealer close by. Thinking a bx or b series. Want around 20pto on the rear and budget is a factor as we are building a new house as well. Thought I settled on the b2601 but dealer won't have one anytime soon. So its either a bx2680 or b2301.

Welcome. Search other dealers long and far. I love my Kubota and think your doing it right. But I’d hate to see you end up with a machine your not happy with. Who cares if you have to drive 6,8,10?hours to pick one up? You could potentially have it forever.

Acreage is not as important as function when picking a machine. So look at the tasks you need and want to do. Easy to spend more to address a want (or one time job) than a need. Sometimes hiring a job out once every 5 years makes more sense.
Kubota is a great machine but my dealer was not very good so I went a different path and saved a bunch of $$$$. If I was planning on 400 hrs a year, the Kubota would be my pick but most of us are at 100 hrs/year. That is where I am anyway. Once a lot of projects are behind you, the hours start to drop off.
