new feature?? and "today's posts"

My mode of reading TBN has become clicking on Today's Posts.

2 questions:
When doing a "today's posts" search just noticed a new icon, a little envelope to between the time and the number of pages. The envelope indicates number of deleted posts. How long has that been there?

Often it seems that a thread I had been following will go "dormant" for several days, not showing up in the "today's posts" search, then all of a sudden it does, with posts going back several days. It seems the "search" misses it for several days. Is this a known feature?

I have not seen the thread going dormant with people posting to it, but the deleted posts envelope has been there for a while.
