Tractor
Kubota BX24
Well after looking for over a year I finally decided to buy a BX24. The new Kubota financing pushed me over the edge. I should have my tractor delivered this weekend.

Anyone have any tips for a new owner...
The dealer is welding some hooks to both buckets, loading the rear tires and adding a block heater. Anything else you recommend?

This spring I plan on buying a Landscape rake and I was hoping for some type of sand spreader but the budget doesn't allow for it just yet...maybe next year...

Thanks

You will have fun! congrats on the new toy/tool. Mine is almost 2 years old and is a fantastic machine. You will want a skidplate to protect the fan and hyd filter. Bro-tek sells them on e-bay. Search here for details.
Good luck!

Are there any other manufactures that make skid plates for the BX24 other then Bro-tek??

I took delivery on a new BX24 on December 31st and built a thumb for it, but havent even had it scratch the dirt yet because of the weather. I have many things planned for that machine this summer, so I hope its ready, as I am!

My tip would be the first time you go downhill and the engine dies, just sit back and enjoy it! Well, sit back anyway because the seat safety switch is cutting out the engine.

But seriously, there is a wealth of experience in these threads but as a new owner it's not easy to figure out what to read up on. So to save people from re-typing the same answers, you can browse the topics on BXtractors.info and when you need a more in-depth answer come back here and ask away.

Plan on planting the left foot on the support for the FEL. There's noting more fun than the tractor dying on a steep incline. Make sure you cinch that seat belt tight, it helps some with that issue.

You should not have this problem with the new seat. I only had this happen with the old seat and never since.

When did they redesign the seat? I wonder how long my BX has been sitting at the dealer before I bought it. They are a larger dealership so I am guessing they don't sit around to long. They said it their most popular model.

Must have items - skid plate, bucket hooks, thumb, toothbar. You may also want to have the dealer install lights on the ROPS. Very handy that. The front lights tend to get blocked by the bucket.

Just ask the dealer if your unit has the new designed seat, he should know.

you know the old seat., you will feel like your falling forward...search the site for the link on seats., it has pictures...and get the skid plate! It is important big time.... I love my BX just got a tiller and need to get hooks on the FEL...as a new project. The back hoe has a 8 inch or 12 inch bucket...I have both, if you have to choose go with the 12 inch. My dealer give it to me at cost when I got the tractor.

Have fun!!

Interesting on the Bucket I wasn't even offered a choice...lucky hooks on both are going to be installed by the dealer (something they automatically do)

Update....signed the final paperwork today...asked the dealer about the seat. He confirmed it has the updated seat....said that was a fiasco with Kubota....apprently they did a lot of make goods on the seat.

Tractor will be delivered tomoroww Whoohoo!!

I second that! Actually I third it! :D

Also, wear your seatbelt. I've tipped mine over. It happens fast and you could be seriously injured if the tractor ends up on top of you.

Welcome and congratulations on the BX.

Bro Tek Ripper Tooth for the backhoe. I use the ripper tooth more than (or at least as much as) the backhoe bucket.

Words of wisdom. In the ER we have a saying - when it goes bad, it goes bad fast. There have been a few sphincter tightening incidents for me so far but no tip-over. More than one incident I recall where i was hoofing it, knees and elbows pumping, away from the tractor as fast as I could...not fun, but probably funny to watch. Same thing with the ROPS. Before I knew it I was tipping backwards, my garage door was irreparably bent, and the ROPS firmly wedged between the door and the garage frame. Took quite a feat of engineering to get it back out. Not the way to spend an afternoon.

I never thought much about the seatbelt....guess I'll make sure I wear it....as for the ROPS. I think the only time I would need to lower it is when I bring it into the garage for service. Unfortunatly the BX needs to live outside...
