New Blade for 40 HP Tractor

Here is my wish list:

Blade will be used for road grading and snow removal

Must have:
84"...I have about 72" track width and want a minimum of 30* angle ability.
Hydraulic angle...in the winter the blade will be mounted on a SSQA plate on the FEL for snow removal

Nice to have but not a necessity.
Hydraulic off-set
Gauge wheel. I have a bit of "roller coaster" undulations in my drive and cannot justify a land plane.
Side plates
Skid shoes

250 yard drive way is Afton stone so it "locks together" when compacted.

I also grade about a mile of sand drive for the hunt camp. No snow removal there.

Which blade would you recommend?

Land Pride RBT3596 or equivalent. I think that you will find that a 30* blade angle will still allow material to flow off of both ends of the blade. I find that 35*-40* works well depending on the consistency of the material (type and moisture content).

If you get the gauge wheel setup, you are about half way there to getting a land plane grading scraper.

The 35 series Landpride blades are very stout and heavy, two things that you really want on a blade that you want to keep a long time and actually use. I have a 3572 and it is just the right width when angled behind my tractor but having a 7' would be nice.

I have a RB3584 with off set but no hydralic angle, just manual , heavy duty blade, just great behind my L3540 Grand L. Just wish I would have purchased the hydralic option.

I have a LandPride blade also,medium duty.Works well for snow removal and decent for road work.I would"NOT"recommend putting to on the FEL(no trip springs).
I have a 8'converted truck plow on the front for snow work;cheap and easy build.It is hydraulic angled.

The blade on the SSQA, would not be my primary snow weapon. It is used for back dragging and to handle light snow events of about 4" or so. I use it to windrow the snow from the edges of the driveway, and then use a pull blower.

I have been using an old light duty 6 ft blade I got for $100. It was bent when I got it and the 40HP tractor has not been kind to it.

I have the Land Pride RB 3784 with hydraulic angle and skid shoes. Been a great blade for 8 years now, I use it mostly for snow plowing. To reverse the blade you could pop 2 pins out and move the cylinder to the other side

That's the blade I intend to buy and use for snow next winter, with hydraulic angle a must, I'll take the other hydraulics if I happen to find a used one equipped. Glad to hear you're happy with it for snow removal. Do you ever wish you went with 8', or is this size the limit when things are deep and heavy?

My tractor is 6' wide so a 7' blade is perfect, I definitely would not want anything wider than that (too many objects to snag!)

Yeah, if my garage was taller I might have thought about a cabbed tractor. The older I get (just retired! ) the more I dream of a heated cab!

I can't comment from use, but from my search of a blade. My criteria includes offset with a swing arm instead of bolting the blade on/off because I want to be able to push the snow further back from my 800' driveway. Everything attachments make a decent looking blade but it is full manual and I want hydraulics on the angle as a minimum. This land pride is the most economical that I can find that has both things I'm looking for. A lot of the swing offset blades with hydraulics become too heavy for my tractor. You guys have some weight on me, so some of those options would work, but are very pricey.

Something to keep in mind when looking for hydraulic offset feature for a rear blade. All the manufacturers do not make their blades offset the same amount. Back when I was looking years ago, no one had more offset capability than Land Pride.

Some are now the same, but to the best of my knowledge no one makes a blade with a greater offset capability and there are some with less, some are a lot less.

Something else to consider, the longer the cylinder stroke, the easier it is to make more precise adjustments.
