Just wanted to inform folks that someone finally bought a 20 series tractor with toys. I haven't been able to get many hours on it yet, but at least I tried all my attachments out before stowing them in the barn for the long winter rest. So far it is sweet. More power than I expected. The electronic gizmos are still a gray area (e-hydro with LoadMatch, MotionMatch, SpeedMatch, can't keep 'em straight yet), but I like the dashboard readouts. This is like driving a car with all the toys. No downsides at this point except paying for it! But, like everything else /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif, you soon forget the price...

Welcome Glenn, and congratulations on your purchase! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

If you're in western Michigan, the weather we get in Wisconsin probably gets to you the next day?

Well, if that is the case, you'll be receiving some mid 60's in the next 2 - 3 days, with the possibility of getting to the low 70's by the end of the week.

Why am I playing the part of a WeatherGuesser (that's what we called 'em in the Navy! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif)?

Because with the nice weather coming your way, you'll have no excuse for taking that spanky new 4320 into that barn and hooking up those attachments that you've put away and pulling them out for SOME PICTURES!!

Besides, it'll give you more chances to figure out those electronic gizmos! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Yes much too early put them away, how are you going to move that lake effect snow? Welcome and thanks for filling out your BIO page

Congrats on the new toy, err tool! Time to dig all those attachments out so you take all sorts of pics of the new machine! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Wisconsin sure must have been miserable last Friday. Saturday here was 41 degrees, 40 mph wind, rain and some hail. After spending time reading about an inch of manuals I really was itchin' to try out more, but it didn't stop raining till Sunday morning service. I hope to get on it tonight, but after work I have just one hour of daylight left. But that's a great hour to anticipate all day! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Actually, it started Friday night and lasted all day Saturday too! Except that we didn't have the rain. I would've remembered that while I was chasing the little white ball all over the golf course on Saturday. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I came as close as I ever have in quitting in the middle of a round of golf because of the weather, but I didn't! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Then I get home and see on the weather channel that the wind chill was 36 degrees! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Yeah, but in two weeks we won't even have that! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Congratulations on the 4320....

I know how much you must be enjoying it... Hope you get the weather for some more seat time.

I've had my 4720 for about 3 months and have been gettin a fair amount of time on it.

Still waiting for my box blade but I have plenty of other implements to keep me busy.

Happy tractoring !!!

I tried the box blade for about a half hour or so. I had never used one before and I was impressed how well they work. Since then I have been using the backhoe and loader. I want to tile about 500' in one field as my first (serious) project. As the corn gets off the other fields I plan on trying to get those before heavy frost sets in. All in all I want to tile around 450 yards or so. (that expensive laser rangefinder works good for something besides golf and target shooting. Wife isn't convinced yet...). I have (3) 20' culverts to put in, too. I am still developing touch with the controls, they are not quite second-nature yet... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

MICHIGLEN
I got mine last week and feel the same way, no down side yet.
All I have done is dig with the 448 and haul the stumps and rocks away using the super slick four way loader bucket that I had installed on mine. I will put the MX-6 cutter on this week end and see how much fun that is. Looks a little scary to me after reading of some horror storirs about damage and injuries. I intend to be slow and carfull!!
Enjoy yours as much as I am mine!

I tried my MX6 for about an hour. One thing I found is they are heavy! Be slow to ease the 3pt down or it will crash and make a big booming sound like a bass drum. Otherwise it works great. I mowed down thickets of willows 2" in diameter and it acted like it never noticed. The blades being fresh and new are probably part of it, but my old Woods 5' would have jumped and rattled a lot doing the same thing.

The attachments are the same as the machine, you get what you pay for.
I will follow the factory suggestion that it shoud be adjusted so that it takes three seconds for the TPH to decend. That should take the boom out of it.
I had the back lights installed on mine but left the front lights off because I feel that the factory mounting location is too low. I know we shouldn't drill or weld the ROPS so looking at the set up I figured that I would TAP the approx 3/4 inch hole on the back side of the ROPS and buy two more lights that are the same as the rear lights and mount them that way with two brackets. I will try and splice into the rear light circuit and see if the fuse can carry two more lights.
Any experts know what the load will be and if the fuse will carry the load?

Gary, OEM fuse size is normally 130% of circuit load. This number is rounded out to the next highest fuse size avalible.
It's the wire size, distance and fuse socket amperage capability that you should worry about. The circuit draw will be the highest when you first turn lamps on due to the low resistance of the cold lamp filiments. Be sure to test load current draw with tractor running due to higher then static battery voltage of the alternator. With tractor nothing runs on battery voltage. Instead, every thing runs on alternator voltage if the alternator is properly sized.
On another matter. Does the 448 back hoe boom a float mode for bucket dragging with the dipper when digging ditches?
Please check out my posts on the 48 hoe for details on what is hoe float.
Good luck with your new tractor.

thanks,
george

I really don't know exactly what you describe as floating the bucket. I wll look at the instructions and see if they show anything.
Could you describe the function in a little more detail?
All I have done is dig stumps and rocks so far but ditches are in the plans.

Gary, check out the post and tread below to get a fix on backhoe boom float. It is a comon feature on Bradco hoes.

I don't how to make acess to the above page direct but a search for the above post number should take you there.
What is odd is that Amerquip, who make the 48 hoe for JD, puts boom float on their hoe but appartantly not the 48 hoe they sell to JD.
I am thinking of buying a 4320 with the new hoe and would like to find out about the boom float option first.

cheers,
george

I believe that they also put float on the ones that they made for Bush Hog.

Jim, have you got any idea as to why JD does not want boom float on thier hoe? Do you suppose it has anything to do with the way hoe is mounted up, or possibly simply to save on cost?

I can't think that it would affect the mounting.

Looking at the technical manual for the 48 hoe, I see that all six valve sections are equipped with load check valves. Can you use a load check valve on a float circuit?
