It's finally here :D Delivered this afternoon: 3430HST, R4 tires, LA723 with quick-attach HD bucket, Woods BH90-X with thumb, Woods HSS72 rotary cutter and Woods RB72 rear blade. Front tires foamed, rear tires filled, and chain hooks added to the bucket. Put in a couple hours driving around digging random holes and clearing up- it's already very dusty :( Tomorrow, the BH comes off and the serious mowing begins...

Thanks for the input I received here - i'm pretty satisfied with it so far. Just need a bunch more practice!

SWEET tractor! A new one is a gas. When I first got my 3130 two years ago I was driving around in the front yard checking things out. My wife came out on the front porch waving. I smiled back. Her waves got more urgent so I waved back. Finally she came off the porch waving with both hands. Turns out I had the FEL too low and rolled up 30' of sod. Oops! Easy to unroll, but that was my intro.

I've been a bit more careful with the new 5030 that came last week!

Have fun!

Looks like you're ready for some serious diggin' and scratchin'! That BH90X looks like it could do quite a job.

I'm looking, but still trying to find something used that's "right" and for the right price.

Enjoy!

Let me and the rest of us know how that back hoe is doing. Hopefully in the spring we will be buying one.

with the hoe all closed up, I could not tell for sure but is the thumb a hydraulic, or manual pin it in place type?

You are welcome to come over to the wetside and dig in the mud!

Also if I could be so rude? How much did that back hoe cost? Remotes and all please.

I was sold on the BH-90, then I saw a little Woods ground breaker on much smaller JD. I rapidly started to rethink and am sold on the Wood hoe now.

The thumb is a manual pin-it-in-place type with 3 or 4 positions. It can be converted to hydraulic but thats a very spendy option (around $2k I think) I've already made use of the thumb for picking up some old fence rails! While I'm not exactly an experienced tractor user yet, the engineering of the Woods BH appears to be very good.

For the BH90-X, 4-pt mounting frame, 12" bucket, hose kit and setup, the price was $8945.

I recently left the wet side of WA after many years for the dry weather and real seasons out here - no desire to go back to the mud and drizzle

thanks for the info.

In nine years if all goes right or twelve years for sure, then we are out of the wet side. Where we end up I do not know, but we do want four seasons.

Nice Tractor and Hoe, I have the L3430 with the cab and have been considering the Woods BH90-X, but I can't decided whether to use the onboard hydraulics or get a PTO pump. Let us know on TBN how it works.

BTW, I like the scenery in the background, your area looks nice with the mountains and valley. It reminds me of the Shenandoah Valley area but really different.

Sweet setup, just about what I'm looking at.
Glad to see some Wa. folks on here!

EDIT: Where did you buy? Sounds like you're happy with the purchase.

Yep - this climate and scenery was a major reason for moving here - lake, mountains and orchards make a nice combination.

The tractor came from Valley Tractor in Wenatchee, WA. They sell Kubota and John Deere, but many more orange tractors than green in the orchards around here.

15 hours on the tractor in the first week. The only problem I had was hitting the telescoping lift arm clip on the 3-pt with the swing cylinder when swinging the hoe around. Mostly my fault since I had the 3-pt lift arms raised up a bit for clearance. The clip is bent pretty good but still works. I need to adjust the bottom position of the arms a bit higher, probably because of the lower profile of the R4s.

I did some BH digging yesterday and the hoe seems pretty effective. I can overdig to the point where I need to back the bucket out a bit, but i think thats technique more than anything else. I have noticed that I can't seem to move boom and dipper at the same time, but being a BH rookie I'm not sure if this is expected or not. The swing speed adjustment is nice but I wish there was adjustment to slow down the boom drop rate a bit.

The only other comment I have is that I'm glad I went for the 3430 rather than 3130. With the weight of the BH, loader and loaded tires, I pretty much need to use low range for any significant inclines. M really starts to lug quickly. Haven't even tried H range.

Beautiful machine and wonderful countryside. I used went to WSU in Pullman a long long time ago.

That's a very impressive machine you've got there, and beautiful country to work it in.

I wish you the best of luck with it!

That is one great looking machine and your countryside is spectacular. Good Luck with your tractor.
