New-to-me of course... It has 670hrs, yatta-yatta... But, there's an interesting dilemma that I hope you guys could help with.

The seller bought it new, and stated; "Serviced regularly." ..but had no records. I called the selling dealer where he said it was serviced and the last record of him was a 'Winter inspection' in 2006. (I am awaiting a copy of the service detail. Nice of Atlantic Tractor to do that .. most car dealers talk about 'customer's privacy'.)

So what should I do first? Zero-timing fluids is the first, first thing, but is there anything else I should do .. or something specific to Green or the 1070 model I should anticipate before it happens.

I've been looking for about 6-8wks .. found lots of other Deere, Kubota and New Holland in that $10-15k range. Most were at the lower end of the HP range I was looking for. Most also were Hydro. I have had a 1957 Fuyrgeson F-40 for the last 15yrs, so a geared tractor is normal for me.

Serviced regularly may indicate "he" serviced it regularly. There are two filters in the fuel line, one at the tank and one on the right side of the engine compartment. Also check the battery and cables (both ends). I've several sets of OEM cables on my 1070. Grease fittings all over the place (including pedals). Obviously check the hydraulic fluid level and color. If you remove the filter, have a HUGE catch basic underneath. Maybe change radiator fluid.

This is a great haying tractor if you run just basic older machinery. Also a good PTO generator driver.

Z-6: Thanks. Perhaps.. there's evidence of clean grease around many of the zerk fittings. The rest of his mechanicals seemed clean. The general aura was good. ..sometimes all you have is your gut.

Speaking of; I looked at an '05 tractor not far away where the general condition was only worthy of becoming a parts mule. Really sad. In contrast, I saw an expensive Kubota that you could have had Tnxgiving Dinner on. His problem: it was not far off new (prices are somewhat flexible now) and the warranty had expired.

Filters .. I think I'll get a list - buy them all. If Green's OEM cables are subject to question, it might be better to contact someone who makes marine cables.

BTW Z-6 .. I love that blade on the front. I've got a race car fabricator around the corner and was thinking of having him fab me a mount. I have a 1/3mi drive and turning my neck to either push or pull snow is a serious pain. The RVM is cute too.. makes sense! Thanks again.
