2008 Cat 297C with almost 'bald' tracks. Recent Auction purchase.

This is an MTL (Multi terrain loader) and will be used purely for farm cleanup, dirt work. Not alot of grading etc, although I cannot say never. But its primary use will be clean up and dirt work around a farm.

So my primary need is traction.

I was quoted $6350 for a new set installed, by my local Cat dealership. That seems absurd, however, I have never purchased a set before.

Does anyone have a local source (Lexington KY region) or has anyone used an internet/shipping source you feel was a quality and value purchase? I won't 'over use' these, as it is just me. But the traction is important.

I'm shopping for new rubber tracks for my 6 ton excavator. I think I've settled on blackdogtracks.com Spoke to a nice lady today and had all my questions answered.

I'm sure they're some Asian replacement brand but the reviews on the company seem ok and the price is definitely right. I don't earn a living with this machine and probably have another heavy years use with it before the annual hours drop down to occasional farm use level. So I don't need high end tracks.

I'll update once I wrestle those new shoes on if you'd like.

$2379 for two tracks looks like a bargain to me compared to the Cat price. I'd jump on that. That's the 18" wide tracks. The extra 2" for 20" tracks will cost about $1100 more.

No worse that ag tires for my M9 Kubota's. Replaced 4, this spring and 4 were more than 5500 bucks and I have another tractor to go. Nothing is cheap today and getting worse, not better. At least fuel has come down here.

Just like the emissions hardware that eventually has to be replaced.
