Need help problem with a Yanmar tractor!

I am not sure of the model of the tractor, but I do know that the numbers on the motor are 2tr16. Now for the problem I have. We ran it out of fuel one day, filled it back up with fuel blead the fuel lines. We it started back up the motor ran wide open with no throttle control? Even though the the throttle is moving inside the injector pump. Any help would be great! Thanks in advance!

If item 21 is moving back and forth you will need to repair/replace the pump.

So my next question is can they be rebuilt, or would I be better off buying a new one?

Before you go the pump route, I would pull the side covers off and check that the governor is not stuck or the spring broken.

The governor operates the rack, item 21, which he says is moving properly. If it were mine I would have a look at it, but then, I feel like I can fix anything. Strange how this happened after running out of fuel.

I was thinking that the governor can over ride the the throttle to some degree. It sounds like it is trying to go wide open regardless of throttle movement. If you shut the throttle down can the governor still open it up enough to cause a run away with no load on the engine or is it limited to how far it can open the pump? I don't know enough about the limitations of the governor on these.

Not sure how it would be connected to running out of diesel. I've done that before and just bled the system and fired it up. I do know you can cause some weird effects by tampering with that little screw on the front of the gear case.

I guess it depends on what you call the throttle. To me, the actual throttle is inside the pump, operated by the slide, (rack, item 21, which he said is operating properly). If that is not the case, then you could be right. No way to know without on-site inspection.

By throttle I was referring to the hand or foot linkage to the injection pump. The 1600 is identical to the 1900 with only a few differences. On my 1900 if the engine bogs down, the governor will kick in and try to maintain the rpm up to a point. How far it can open up the injector pump I'm not sure of but I've seen it do it enough to put out some power and start pulling. So my thinking was that if it can do that then it could also stick or go full throttle on it's own.
