I would say for stability, the YM2000. That is just seat of the pants experience, not scientific proof mind you. Of course if you get it from Tom, he can hook you up with ROPs for any of the models he sells.

For work on hills I would be sure to get a 4x4. I have a steep yard and after the last Hairy trip down the hill sliding on leaves and planning what to do if I did not stop before I reached a 2' drop next to the road I orded my 2020d. Heavy, 48'' wide, 4 wheel drive adds lots of control plus I can back up the hill (not possible with 2wd) I feel very safe on the tractror not one slip in 4wd. running across steep grades is not good with any thing other than a very wide machine.

I am a Locust Fork grad
. Go hornets.

Brent brings up an important issue. ROPS. ROPS can be put on most of these tractors now. If were worried about tipping over I would get a tractor with ROPS and wear my seat belt. This also would mean getting one large enough for my body. If you have alot of mowing you will want to run the widest mower so size of the tractor is very important. Wider is more stable.

I have a 1602D, which is 4X4 and gear trans, and I concur with a lot of what the other guys are saying, you need to try it on first. I'm not that big of a guy, but climbing on and off is a bit of a pain, it's easy to get your feet tangled in the pedals. As to ability, mine has done everything I've needed, which is pretty much as you described. I also really like the 4X, since my property is hilly too, plus I have a FEL and the 4X makes it more comfortable to work with, especially backing out of a hole with weight in the bucket. My advice is the same as the other guys, find a good dealer and let them educate you a bit, then try some on for size till you find the right one...........

I agree with the greatrandini. I would go for the 4WD and the Powershift transmission. I have a 3110D and like it a great deal. I also live a few miles north of you (Arab Alabama) and I know your town, which has about the same terrain as ours. I believe you would find an appreciation for the 4WD, Powershift and make sure you get a ROPS equipped tractor. I have dealt with Fredricks Equipment in Hartselle and they are good folks. Good luck.

The 2000 IS a syncromesh, you don't have to stop to shift gears.

I always vote 2 cylinders, longer life, less fuel more torque per hp.

The YM2000 transmission that is apart on my bench does not have syncro’s in it.
