Need help bending 1" steel and torch tip size requirements

Just cut it almost in two. Bend like you want and weld the gap up. I built drilling rigs for Helmerich & Payne International Drillers and was lead over substeuctures. Flex 4 rigs mainly.

Rosebud is sized according to your bottle size. Without knowing your bottle size no one should recommend a tip. There’s a time factor too. They take a lot of gas. Too big a tip can easily draw more acetylene that can come out of acetone solution and media in the tank. Then acetone gets entrained. Causing all kinds of safety issues and damage to your equipment. See #12 rosebuds being sold beside small tanks at TSC. Accident ready to happen. Use to they sold big bottles not much anymore. Enough people will get hurt and the government will take them away from most everyone.
This is the most important post in this series. You don't just willy nilly stick a rosebud on a small tank. It is dangerous. Even large welding or cutting tips must be sized to the tanks.

Right you are and good reason to use propane for heating and cutting. Propane will not work for welding but how often do most of us do that? I keep an 80cf acetylene bottle for welding and haven't refilled it in over 10 years. I Heard and They Said both claim propane doesn't get hot as acetylene which is correct but very misleading. The difference is insignificant when flame is held proper distance from work. To train the eye,lay out a few pieces same size material and have a helper precisely time you while you heat to point where the oxygen lever would be pressed. As you touch flame to material, say "GO" when metal is hot enough to begin cutting, say "stop". The sweet spot is a little farthar out in flame. If you are experieced enough to not lose the cut once began, there will be no difference with propane and here's a way to pay for hose tips required for propane. When you come across some blowhard that insist's it require's far more oxygen for propane to cut, make a bet. The misconception is that flame must heat metal from start to finish of cut and that propane require's a lot more oxygen than acetylene to produce enough heat. Once you and your helper have discovered hotest part of flame, try this. After starting a cut and moving along, tell helper to shut oxygen off. You can finish the cut without gas which mean's that gas make's no difference once you press the handle.
Speaking of flame,I have my flame suit on so let the fireworks begin.🚩
