Right you are and good reason to use propane for heating and cutting. Propane will not work for welding but how often do most of us do that? As you touch flame to material, say "GO" when metal is hot enough to begin cutting,say "stop". The sweet spot is a little farthar out in flame. If you are experieced enough to not lose the cut once began,there will be no difference with propane and here's a way to pay for hose tips required for propane. When you come across some blowhard that insist's it require's far more oxygen for propane to cut,make a bet. The misconception is that flame must heat metal from start to finish of cut and that propane require's a lot more oxygen than acetylene to produce enough heat. Once you and your helper have discovered hotest part of flame,try this. After starting a cut and moving along,tell helper to shut oxygen off. You can finish the cut without gas which mean's that gas make's no difference once you press the handle.
