Need a Gas Line

I guess the main question is if this is a 'main' as in 'pipeline' where it is really meant to transport gas cross-country or if it is a 'main' as in a distribution line that you can tap into without additional equipment.

Around here they give you a certain amount of line 'free' based on your projected usage. The more gas appliances you have the more line you get. If you are further away then that then you pay the difference.

If it is the kind of line you can tap into and you can get some other neighbors on board you might be able to make it happen.

............I wan't born at the time when the rural electric associations were formed to provide electric service to the rural farms back in the 1930's. It was a Good thing the electric companies were apparently a little more far sighted ,then, than the gas companies are, now. ........

No, the electric companies were not farsighted. Not a bit.

I thought the US government is still the largest electric company on the country.

That was a good attachment and it a nutshell, was, what I meant. Although, I was not aware of the electric companies fighting the rural electrification, just that the electricity, was installed one way or another. From what I read, the gas companies, are saying the same thing as the electric companies did back in the thirties. I mean saying "oh we're not going to help you rural people, just not enomical". Anyway, I not going be a "gas customer" according to the local gas company. I think the upgrading the US utility infrastructure should include the natural gas distrubution lines as well as the electrical grid. bjr
