Tractor
Kubota L3010
In about 1.5 months we're moving from 0.5 acres to 15 acres. I've been doing lots of research on tractors, but haven't been able to come to a final decision, as I wasn 't familiar enough with the property we're buying.

But I made another trip there today & I think I have a good grasp on what I have to do. I will be mowing about 4 acres on a regular basis. Another 2 acres is pasture, which I'll cut down once or twice a year. About an other acre is brush which I'll probably cut only once/year.

In addition, I will need to be a lot of work on abourt 1 acre of the ground before I reseed it. I'll need to fill some small "ravines", smooth the soil, put some good loam on it, etc.

Here's my thinking about a good tractor for me:

1) I really think the Kubota BX2200 will do all that I have listed above.
2) BUT, I think I should go up a notch, since I'll probably find more to do & I have plenty of space in the barn for a larger tractor.

Currently, I'm thinking of
- Kubota B7500 (or even B2410)
- NH TC21D (or even TC25D)
- Deere 4200

Any comments or suggestions on my thinking & these candidates?

Its not that the BX won't handle it. Its how long will it take to do the work.
I too think you need a bigger tractor and it should be bigger than a B7500 IMHO.

Hook,

I'd set my sights larger. With 4 acres to mow regularly, you would appreciate a 72" finish mower. For three acres of rough cutting (and another 8 acres of potential something), you would be better off with a 60" inch rotary cutter than a 48". This would require a 27/2910 in the Kubota line.

I have 11 acres. I finish mow 3, and rough mow 3 or 4 (with the rest being future potential). I originally bought a BX, but quickly traded it in for a B2910 with the size mowers stated above. I wouldnt want anything smaller. If anything, I would like something a little bigger, but not as big as the Kubota Grand L series. If I had it to do over, I would seriously consider the JD 4300 as a good size, but I wouldnt buy it.

Hook, like the other guys said, you can do it with the tractors you're considering, but of course you'll do it quicker and more comfortably with a bigger tractor. I used a B7100 for 4 years before moving up to the B2710.

You should try to move up to a tractor with three ranges if you are going to do much excavating work.

My suggestion is to get all you can afford. I mow and mow and mow and went from 4 hours on a rider to just over 2 on my B7500 with 60" MMM. A 7500 will handle all your chores.
